Head Lice

Melissa Parry

Many families have experienced head lice this term and for some more than once. This can cause great anxiety and stress for families and as it is the beginning of the school holidays, I thought it was a great time to remind everyone to check their child’s hair.

Head lice is a very normal and common issue in school communities, but it is also crucial that everyone works together and regularly checks for Head Lice.  We will be introducing families to “Sunday night, head lice check night.” Stay tuned for more information to come next term.

Please remember

  • We ask that you are vigilant in checking your children regularly for head lice and treat them as necessary.
  • Ensure all long hair is tied up to help prevent the spread of head lice at school.
  • Inform the school if your child has head lice, they must remain home until treatment has commenced.
  • Regular head checks ensure catching any infestation early and therefore helps to prevent spreading.

If you are needing further information please see the following links relating to head lice and please note that if this is something that you need further advice on, it is a great idea to check in with your local Pharmacist or GP.

Thanks for your ongoing vigilance in this matter.
