PRINCIPAL'S REPORT

Paul Dawson

Principal

We now have two more weeks of term 2 and next week, the beginning of semester 2; the year is flying by.  Winter has finally begun with the chilling temperature experienced this week. Congratulations to all the students who diligently applied themselves to their exam preparation and participation. For some students, it will be a good opportunity to reflect and consider where improvements can be made. Students you should reflect on your mid-year reports with your parent and also ensure you clarify concerns with the relevant teachers.  It may also be a time to celebrate achievements, improvements and continue the growth into next semester.

Staff Recruitment

Three new staff members will begin at the College next term. Remington Clarke will be a new PE and Health teacher, Gina Woodmansee will teach in the Humanities area, and Milicia Legtic will be a new Media/English teacher. I would like to congratulate all three staff members on their success in attaining positions at the school, and I know the NGSC school will make them feel welcome.

Winter uniform items

If you're ever uncertain about the range of uniform items included in the NGSC uniform, you can request a uniform price list (Bellarine Uniforms) from the school Administration Office or visit the Bellarine Uniform Shop on Moorabool Street, Geelong. Families should note that the NGSC PE uniform now includes a new long-sleeve polo shirt. This is a great option for students who find the short-sleeve top too cold in winter. With the long-sleeve polo shirt, students are allowed to wear a long-sleeve t-shirt underneath for extra warmth, as long as it's not visible.

Students are reminded that long grey school pants are an option for all students, with both male and female-styled trousers available. NGSC school skirts should be worn at knee length, slightly above or below the knee, as this is also useful for keeping warm. It is important to note that approved school shoes do NOT include boots or branded black runners. Please ensure that all items of uniform are labelled with the student's name. Jackets, blazers, and jumpers are often lost as students remove them and then forget where they left them.

Uniform support is available through the NGSC Wellbeing Team.
