What's Happening in Year 5?

An Electrifying Incursion!

On Monday, our Year 5 students participated in an exciting science incursion that sparked their curiosity and creativity. The focus was on exploring the fascinating world of light, circuits, and electricity.

Students began by learning about different types of circuits and the materials that can conduct or insulate electricity. They eagerly experimented with various components, discovering which materials allowed electricity to flow and which ones didn’t.

The highlight of the day was creating their own light circuits. With wires, batteries, and light bulbs in hand, they connected the circuits and watched in amazement as their creations lit up. This hands-on experience not only deepened their understanding but also set the stage for their upcoming Inquiry projects. Each student will soon be designing a unique project, incorporating a light circuit to illuminate an element of their design.

Overall, it was an engaging and inspiring day, filled with discovery and fun, leaving the students excited for the challenges ahead.

100 Days of Prep

On Tuesday, the Foundation students celebrated our 100th day of school with enthusiasm and creativity. We spent the day counting, crafting, jumping, creating, and playing with all things related to the number 100! This year, to highlight our reimagined Literacy Program with a focus on phonics, students dressed up as something or someone that started with the first letter of their name.

We had an array of sea animals, including jellyfish and mermaids, as well as rabbits, cats, and superheroes like Aqua Man and Captain America. There were magical wizards and even a volcano. What a creative bunch of students we have!
