Captains' Corner

Roxy Bohn and Caitlin Pett - College Captains

Hi everyone, and welcome back, as another jam-packed term is upon us! To kick start the term on the 17 July, we have our Secondary School Interhouse Athletics Carnival, which is going to be extra eventful, with the new inclusion of a Seniors vs Staff race. Keeping with sport, we also have the QGSSSA Athletics Competition on 12 September, where we would like to follow suit with the fantastic involvement and spirit presented at Cross Country. Hopefully, Clayton the Croc can also befriend another mascot (our guess is Ipswich Girls' Grammar’s rat). Some of our Secondary School students are also looking forward to embracing the opportunity to participate in the Cambridge Scholar's Program, as well as the Pymble and Redlands Exchange Programs.

Additionally, we have two House fundraisers this term. Ashburn’s Pyjama Day on 19 July, giving us some respite from the chill and raising funds for the Pyjama Foundation, and Campbell’s Jeans for Genes Day, allowing us to support children with genetic disorders.

We are celebrating various communities within the College over four special weeks this term. The first has been NAIDOC Week, where our First Nations people in our community and beyond have celebrated their culture through song, dance, art and storytelling, and taught us about their beliefs and practices, taking us one step closer to reconciliation. The second is Faith Week in Week 3, which provides opportunities to bring us together in faith in many interesting and meaningful ways. The third is Science Week in Week 6, which will provide an opportunity to experience the wonders of science beyond the classroom. The fourth is Book Week in Week 7, where students (Primary and Secondary) will be able to dress up as their favourite book character on Friday 23 August.

Finally, our biggest community event of Term 3, On the Green, will be held on Sunday 28 July, with guest artist Kate Miller-Heidke, accompanied by numerous performances by our incredibly talented music students here at Clayfield.

It has been so great seeing everyone back, and we encourage you to bring your best attitude and enthusiasm to the term ahead.
