Welcome back to Term 3, a time filled with excitement and anticipation as we commence the highly anticipated QGSSSA Winter Fixtures and Club Sport Programs. Clayfield College Sport hopes everyone had a restful break and is ready to dive back into the spirit of sportsmanship and friendly competition.

This weekend marks the beginning of Round 1 of the Winter Fixtures, where our athletes will showcase their skills in a variety of sports including Hockey, Netball, Tennis, and Volleyball. Our teams have been busy training diligently in preparation for Winter Fixtures Round 1 against Ipswich Girls Grammar School on Saturday 13 July. Our BBI Club Basketball teams will resume their Winter season competition with games scheduled for Friday night and Saturday.

In addition to the Winter Fixtures, QGSSSA Athletics training has also commenced. This exciting opportunity allows our athletes to further develop their skills, endurance, and agility, preparing them for the QGSSSA Athletics Championships and respective Queensland Athletics competitions and events. We welcome and encourage interested students in Years 7 to 12 to participate.

Primary Sport

Clayfield College Sport is excited to announce the upcoming Term 3 Primary Sport and extra-curricular activities. During Term 3, we will deliver the scheduled Andrews Cup and Britton Shield sports programs and respective carnivals.

We also offer a diverse range of sports and activities to engage and inspire our Primary students. These opportunities allow them to develop their skills, promote physical fitness, and foster a sense of teamwork and sportsmanship. We encourage the boys and girls to actively participate in these programs as they provide a chance to explore different interests, enhance their physical abilities, and cultivate love for sports and physical activity that will last throughout their life.

Secondary Interhouse Athletics Championships

We are now looking towards the final Interhouse Sporting Competition for the year, the Secondary Interhouse Athletics Championships. The event will provide our students with another opportunity to display their house spirit and gain points for the 2024 Inaugural Interhouse Champions Trophy! All students are expected to attend their respective event and take part in the competition. If your child will be absent for any reason, the usual expectations around communicating student absences will apply.

Madison Morris Making Strides in Rugby

Madison Morris is making impressive strides in the world of Women's Rugby and Rugby 7's. Madi was recently selected for the Queensland School Sport State U18 Rugby 7's team, showcasing her exceptional skills and dedication to the fast-paced, high-intensity format of the game. In addition to her accomplishments in Rugby 7's, Madi has also earned a spot on the U18 Brisbane City Rugby team, demonstrating her versatility and talent in the traditional 15-a-side format.

Madi's exceptional skill and lightning speed make her a formidable opponent on the field, with the opposition often struggling to catch her. Known for her ability to score tries, she is consistently relied upon by her teammates. Her co-players are always eager to spread the ball out wide, allowing Madi to fly down the sideline and cross the try line with ease. Her dual success in these highly competitive arenas highlights her as a rising star in the sport, with a bright future ahead in both disciplines.

Indy Horgan Shines in Touch Football

Indy Horgan continues to make waves in the touch football scene with her outstanding performances. Recently, Indy represented Metropolitan North, where the team finished runners-up in the Final. Indy played her heart out, showcasing her skills and determination on the field.

In addition to her success with Met North, Indy also competed in the Junior State Carnival at Redlands. Her brother's team also achieved runners-up status, marking a significant achievement for their club. Indy's dedication and hard work are truly inspiring, and she remains a key player to watch in future competitions.
