Message from Our Principal
Welcome new and returning families to the 2024 school year! We are excited about another wonderful year of learning and fun with our students.
At this early stage of the year, I am already impressed by the positive learning mindsets and friendly attitudes of our students this year!
In the news?
Congratulations to the students, staff and families of Team Tally for being nationally recognised in the top 20 highest performing schools in Queensland (primary, high, independent and Catholic) in an ABC news article during the holidays. If you would like to look it up, sort the table in the article (High-performing schools in each state and territory revealed as state NAPLAN results released), we are VERY high.
Our focus remains on the learning, wellbeing and positive school experience of each individual child.
Congratulations to Craig Marais who was awarded silver in the 2023 Gold Coast best PE teacher competition run by the Gold Coast Bulletin late last year.
The Gold Coast news included that someone commented, “Feel very honoured our kids get to have him as their PE teacher. Encouraging, fun, patient and everyone loves him.” I couldn't have said it better myself.
I look forward to seeing parents and caregivers at our Curriculum Information, Meet the Teachers event next week and thank our community for continuing to be so friendly and supportive.
Warm regards
Zoe Harlow
Newsletter Format
This year, we will be phasing in some changes to our newsletter to streamline the information provided and increase the inclusion of items showcasing student work and learning. ClassDojo remains our main form of communication to parents and caregivers and is used to inform about our educational program, events, staff contact details etc.
Quick Tips and Reminders for Parents and Caregivers
- Join ClassDojo. This is how we inform you and you can message teachers for non-urgent matters. Parents and caregivers can email our Tech Support Team TechSupport@tallebudgerass.eq.edu.au if they require their invitation to be reissued or need technical advice.
- Curriculum Information Session - Watch online then attend to meet the teacher/s, ask general questions and maybe get a free sausage sizzle thanks to the YMCA. There is an opportunity to ask questions specific to your child by appointment or during progress interviews later this term.
- Want to know what's happening? Read the term calendars and Curriculum Overviews provided on ClassDojo.
- White or coloured soles, trim and/or laces and boots are not the school uniform. Children rely on their parents or caregivers to help meet this school expectation. Thank you to the vast majority of families for supporting their children with this. If financial difficulty prevents wearing the uniform, please contact us for assistance. All children should be in full school uniform.
- School supervision commences at 8:55am (i.e. the start of school). YMCA provide onsite before and after school supervision.

Tuckshop Undercover Area
Children are enjoying the addition of sport quality Astroturf to the tuckshop undercover area.
Volunteers
Our Team Tally Volunteers help in a range of ways including: at the tuckshop, in the library, with the P&C, during events and in classrooms when the need arises. A ClassDojo post was made last week about volunteering in the school and information about the annual mandatory training. If you have any questions or would like to volunteer please call our helpful office team on 55 685 222.
2025 Prep Enrolments
The first activity for our 2025 Preps is this term. Our Talk This Way – Foundations and Friendship sessions are an important part of the preparation for school and we ask that if possible, all 2025 Prep students attend. Once you have submitted your enrolment application, you will receive invitations to attend events like this and important information.
Do you have a child who is due to start school in 2025? Children born 1 July 2019 to 30 June 2020 are eligible to start prep in 2025.
We are inviting parents and caregivers of 2025 Preps to a Prep Information Session and School Tour on Wednesday 14 February. Please see the flyer below for details and click here to RSVP.
2025 enrolment paperwork may be collected from 14 February and out-of-catchment applications may be submitted from 15 February. We are an enrolment managed school and out-of-catchment offers are subject to available capacity and considered in order of receipt.
Prep and New Student Photos
Photos of any new students who enrolled after October 2024 and the Prep students will be taken on Tuesday 6 February. School photos for classes and portraits are later in the year.
