Notizie Italiane

ITALIAN NEWS Ciao e benvenuti al 2026!
Who Am I?
Ciao a tutti, for those of you who don’t know me, my name is Nancy and I wear a number of different hats here at BSPS. One of those hats is the Bilingual Engagement Leader (BEL). This role entails lifting the profile of our Italian bilingual program, and increasing student and parent/carer community engagement!
Why I love this role?
Although I love all my roles, this specific role allows me to work with all our students, many new and current parents/carers, and our stakeholders, such as CO.AS.IT, Melbourne Univeristy, the Institute of Culture, the Italian Embassy, the Italian Consul General in Melbourne/Tasmania, Chiara Mauri, the Bilingual Schools Network, various Kindergartens, and many more.
What Italian clubs/incursions/events can you and your child look forward to Term 1?
- Exploring facts about the MILANO CORTINA XXV Winter Olympic Games in our morning meetings
- Lo Zecchino Choir Club starts back this term (Stay tuned for more information)
- Giochi Matematici del Mediterraneo (GMM) (Years 3-5 students only-stay tuned for more information)
- Year 5/6 Libriamoci Incursion- Tuesday 17th February (More information will be sent to our Year 5/6 parents/carers. This Literary incursion is free and led by the Institute of Culture.)
- Pranzo Italiano Club starts back this term! Read below to found out how to volunteer your support and Italian language skills in one of these clubs this year.
Pranzo Italiano Lunchtime Club- Parent/Carer Volunteers Needed!
We would like to launch our 2026 Pranzo Italiano Lunchtime Club this term, and we need your help to do so! To continue the great work of Oliver Mann (BSPS parent and singing teacher) and the parents/carers who volunteered their time, culinary knowledge, and Italian language skills last year, we are looking for parent/carer volunteers to help run this lunchtime club once a month this year.
**If you are interested in joining us in this fun and immersive Italian language cooking experience, and you speak some Italian, please contact Oliver Mann: oliver@mannerofsinging.com.au and attention the email: Pranzo Italiano Lunchtime Club Volunteers
Grazie mille in anticipo! 😊
In what other ways can you get involved in your child’s Italian bilingual learning?
You don’t have to speak Italian to get involved in your child’s Italian bilingual journey at BSPS!One way you could start this week, is by chatting about the XXV Winter Olympic Games held in MILANO CORTINA, Italy. You could start by reading about the official mascots, Tina and Milo HERE. These mascots will be discussed in class this week. General information about the Winter Olympic Games can be found HERE.
✨ IMPARIAMO INSIEME QUIZ – Join the Fun! ✨Another way is to join in the fun and become an active participant in our IMPARIAMO INSIEME QUIZ!Every day over the next two weeks, your child will be asked a “Did You Know?/ Lo sapevate che?” question about the Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Olympic Games / I Giochi Olimpici Invernali during Morning Meeting time. Through these daily questions, students will learn exciting facts and explore values such as curiosity, collaboration, respect, and harmony.
Why not continue the conversation at home?
You might like to ask your child about the interesting questions and fun facts they have already learned so far this week (Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday).
And here’s a little challenge you can explore together for Friday’s question:
❄️ Friday’s Question / La domanda di venerdì ❄️How many Italian cities are hosting the Winter Olympic Games?Quante città italiane ospitano i Giochi Olimpici Invernali? We encourage you to research, discuss, and discover the answer together! Learning really is better when we IMPARARE INSIEME!
🍀 Good luck!/ In bocca al lupo!
