Rel. Deputy Principal

Dear Beverly Hills Girls High Community,
First and foremost, on behalf of the whole school community, I would like to welcome you all to 2026. We hope you all had a wonderful break and that you have started the new year in good health and good spirits.
A very special warm welcome to our new students and families. Whether joining us as part of our Year 7 cohort or in older years, we warmly welcome you to our school community.
Celebrating Success
We begin the year celebrating the success of our 2025 cohort, 90% of whom have received university offers and have since begun studying their course of choice at leading universities. Some of the range of courses our 2025 graduates are currently undertaking include: Forensics, Medicine, Law, Business, Primary and Secondary Teaching, just to name a few.
It is with great pride that we acknowledge Cindy He of our 2025 Graduating Class who on the 26th of January 2026 was awarded the Georges River Council Young Citizen of the Year Award.
Below is the caption that Mr Mark Coure read to parliament in recognition of Cindy’s achievement.
I rise to congratulate Cindy Yan He, recipient of the 2026 Georges River Council Young Citizen of the Year Award, for her continued efforts and successes across our local community. As a young volunteer, Cindy's involvement with the Kai'Mia Community, Beverly Hills Girls High School and the 233 St George Australian Army Cadet Unit has earned her this well-deserved recognition. Cindy played a key role in developing the grant plan for the Uniting Generations Program at Kai'Mia Community, an initiative that connects young people with their culture, whilst serving as a platform for stories and knowledge to be passed down from Elders. Cindy said that she would like to help the program expand and inspire other young people to contribute positively to their communities. Individuals like Cindy really are the future of our nation and her efforts give us the confidence that there are young, inspired people in our community, who are ready to make a real difference. Once again, I congratulate Cindy Yan He on this well-earned recognition and commend her efforts in our local community.
Year 11 and Year 12 Assessment Block occurs at the end of this term. Year 11 assessment block runs between Monday 23rd March and Monday 30th March and Year 12 assessment block runs between Thursday 26th March and Wednesday 1st April. Upon completing their assessment Year 11 will complete their Life Ready Course on Tuesday 31st March and Wednesday 1st April and to celebrate achieving the halfway mark of their HSC year, Year 12 will be treated to a special breakfast on Thursday 2nd April.
Primary Links
In week 5 we held our annual Primary Links event. 173 primary school students from 5 of our local primary schools came to Beverly Hills Girls and spent the afternoon engaging in a variety of lessons. From completing scientific experiments, to learning introductory Japanese phrases, making clay pots, cooking sliders, critical thinking in Mathematics, creating literary poems in English, competing in PDHPE activities, students were given a glimpse of what life is like at Beverly Hills Girls High School. Students were escorted to each group with student leaders and the feedback from our primary students and staff was highly positive. In the years ahead, we hope to see many of these students enrolling at our school and joining our community.
Open Night
In week 6 we held our annual Open Night event. On this night, two Year 8 students, Frances and Juveria shared their experience at Beverly Hills Girls High and represented our school with pride. Again, our student leaders were integral to the successful night and feedback from prospective parents reflected glowingly on the maturity, kindness and knowledge of
our student leaders. We encourage anyone reading this who missed out on attending our Open Night, to contact the school so that we can organise a private tour with you.
A Note on Kindness
At Beverly Hills Girls High, one of our expectations is to ‘Be Somebody who treats everyone with care, empathy and kindness’. With this in mind, each newsletter, I aim to share a snapshot of some acts of kindness that have been observed across the school, so that our school community can better understand the true beauty that exists here.
This edition’s observations of kindness include:
- A Year 9 student sharing oz-tag tips and equipment with a peer to ensure she could participate in her match despite forgetting her boots
- Students being each other’s biggest cheerleaders as they supported one another competing at the recent Cross Country Carnival
- Students assisting staff to set up for Open Night
- Students helping staff carry equipment to their classrooms
- Students volunteering to represent our school at Open Night and Primary Links.
Thank you,
Warm regards,
Candice Byrnes
