Women Can Do Anything!

PRINCIPAL'S WELCOME — NEW SCHOOL YEAR

Dear Beverly Hills Girls High School Community,

On behalf of the entire staff and faculty, it is my absolute honour and joy to welcome each and every one of you — our students, our families, and our dedicated colleagues — to what I know will be a truly outstanding school year. Whether you are returning to these halls with the confidence of experience or stepping through our gates for the very first time with a mix of nerves and excitement, you belong here, and we are so glad you are with us.

The beginning of a new school year is one of life's great privileges — a clean page, a fresh start, and a horizon full of possibility. At Beverly Hills Girls High School, we do not take that possibility lightly. Every day within these walls is an opportunity to learn something remarkable, to form a friendship that lasts a lifetime, and to discover a little more about the remarkable young women you are becoming.

To Our Students

You are the heart of this school. Everything we do — every lesson planned, every program designed, every club and excursion organised — is done with you in mind. This year, I encourage you to be bold. Put your hand up in class. Try the elective that scares you a little. Support the girl sitting next to you, especially on the hard days. Pursue your curiosity without apology and never underestimate the power of showing up wholeheartedly.

My door is always open. If you are struggling, if you have an idea, or if you simply want to share a win — please come and find me. This school is yours, and your voice matters enormously.

To Our Parents and Families

Thank you for the trust you place in us each day when you send your daughters through our doors. That trust is something we hold sacred. We are committed to keeping the lines of communication open and welcoming your partnership at every turn. The research is clear: when families and schools work together, students flourish. We hope you will attend our information evenings, engage with your daughter's teachers, and reach out whenever you have questions or concerns.

Our Parent and Community Association is a wonderful way to get involved, and I warmly encourage you to connect with them mid-term. Watch your email for upcoming dates and events — we have an exciting calendar ahead.

To Our Staff

To our returning teachers and support staff — your dedication, creativity, and compassion are what make Beverly Hills Girls High School the extraordinary place it is. I am continually inspired by the care you bring to your work, and I am grateful every single day for the team we have built together.

I also extend a very warm welcome to the new members joining us this year. You bring fresh perspectives and wonderful energy, and I know our community will embrace you fully. Do not hesitate to lean on your colleagues — collaboration is one of our greatest strengths.

Looking Ahead

This year, we will be placing a particular focus on student growth and attainment, professional growth and attainment and school growth and attainment. We have some exciting new program and initiatives launching across all year groups, and I look forward to sharing more details with you as the term unfolds. We will also be continuing our commitment to sustainability, community service, and the arts — areas in which our girls consistently shine.

As we begin this year together, I am filled with genuine optimism and excitement for what lies ahead. The Beverly Hills Girls High School community is one of the most caring, spirited, and accomplished I have had the privilege to be part of — and that is entirely because of each one of you.

Here's to a wonderful year. Let's make it one to remember.

With warmest regards,

Maria Iemma

Principal

Approaching our strongest period

Competitive Positioning

SSSG leadership maintained

We've outperformed our SSSG group in 11 of the last 16 years, with particularly strong relative performance in recent years (2023–2025), demonstrating sustained competitive advantage.

State comparison improving

Our gap to state has narrowed considerably:

• 2022–2024 average gap: -3.74 points

• 2025 gap: -1.13 points (a 70% improvement)

The 2025 Achievement

We've executed a remarkable three-year turnaround, lifting results by over 4 points while significantly outperforming similar schools. Our 2025 performance suggests the programs and strategies implemented post-2022 are working effectively, positioning us for continued growth toward our historical peak performance levels.

The momentum is clearly positive — we're on track to potentially match or exceed our 2010–2011 benchmarks within 1–2 years if this trajectory continues.
