Welcoming Visiting Teachers from China
This term, Beverly Hills Girls High School had the pleasure of hosting three visiting teachers from China, Ann, Shelley and Xin, as part of a four-day Teacher Professional Development Program.
The purpose of the program was to provide our visiting teachers with the opportunity to observe the day-to-day operations of an Australian school, with a particular focus on teacher pedagogy and classroom practice.
During their visit, our guests spent time in a variety of classrooms across different faculties, observing lessons, engaging with staff, and participating in professional discussions about curriculum delivery, assessment practices, and strategies to enhance student engagement.
As teachers of English, our visitors expressed particular interest in our student-centred learning approaches, the integration of literacy strategies across key learning areas, and the strong culture of wellbeing that underpins student success. The visit provided a valuable opportunity for professional exchange, with rich dialogue highlighting both the similarities and differences in our respective educational contexts.
A special thank you to all the wonderful BHGHS teachers who volunteered to have their lessons observed, the Front Office, the Library staff, the EAL/D staff and everyone else who contributed to this worthwhile program.
We are proud to have shared our school community with colleagues from China and look forward to continuing to build, international, professional connections in the future.
Mrs. A Vallis
