Year 9 News

Welcome back Year 9 students, parents and carers.
Let’s empower each other as we celebrate a new academic year.
As we commence term one in a new and exciting academic stage, we mark International Women’s Day on March 8th. It’s a time to celebrate the achievements, strength, and resilience of women around the world—and of course, right here at Beverly Hills Girls High School.
On Tuesday 24th February, we observed great resilience and participation in our Cross Country Carnival where on such a hot and humid day, our students challenged themselves to meet their potential.
Congratulations to our Year 9 Students who competed in the 15 years event with a place: Adama K (3) and Batoul G (6). Well, done to all the girls who attended the day and gave it their all.
International Women’s Day is more than just a date on the calendar. It’s a moment to reflect on the progress women have made in education, sports, science, the arts, and leadership, and to recognise the challenges that still exist. It reminds us all, especially young women like our students, that our voice matters, our dreams are powerful, and our futures bright.
This year’s International Women’s Day themes are ‘Balance the Scales’ and ‘Give to Gain’.
These ideas encourage calls for action to ensure every woman and girl is safe, heard, and free to shape her own life. It focuses on overcoming barriers like gender-based violence, discriminatory laws, and structural inequality.
The day will celebrate a mindset of generosity, urging individuals and organisations to "give" (time, resources, visibility) to "gain" a more equitable world.
It highlights the power of reciprocity and collective action.
Both themes aim to inspire, motivate, and drive action toward a more gender-equal world.
Let’s reflect on how we can support equality in our everyday life at school this year, whether it’s standing up for a friend, sharing ideas with your peers, parents and teachers, or following ambitions without fear.
Let’s use this International Women’s Day as a chance to inspire one another and continue building a future where every girl can shine.
Remember: You are powerful, capable, and ready to make a difference.
To all our wonderful Year 9 students, parents and carers, have a great year!
