Level 3 & 4

Admin – iPads 📱

A reminder that all students must bring their fully charged iPads and compatible headphones to school every day.

If you are choosing for your child to use a school device instead of a BYO device this year, please ensure this has been communicated to your child’s teacher. You can notify us by emailing the school office.

As we prepare for our Grade 3 student's NAPLAN, it is essential that devices and headphones are at school so we can check that everything is working well ahead of testing. This helps ensure students feel calm, confident and well-prepared on the day.

Our Grade 3 students will be sitting a "mock" NAPLAN on Wednesday 25th February. This will allow us time to solve any issues prior to the beginning of NAPLAN on the 11th of March.

Kitchen Garden 🥕

Our students have made a fantastic start to Kitchen Garden and are now excited to begin cooking during their sessions! It has been wonderful to see their enthusiasm as they explore new skills and ingredients.

If your child is a fussy eater, we recommend that they continue to bring a small lunch from home. While we cook something delicious each session, the food prepared may not always be enough for a full lunch. Students will have the opportunity to eat the food they bring from home before heading out for lunch play.

We warmly encourage all students to try new foods and give everything a go. However, we always respect individual preferences and never pressure children to eat foods they do not like.

We rely on the support of our wonderful parent helpers to ensure this program is safe and successful. We also warmly welcome help from grandparents, aunts, and uncles. If you or a family member are able to spare some time to support the program, please use the link below to sign up:

If you have not yet returned the SAKG dietary notice, please fill this in as soon as possible and return it to your classroom teacher.

Wellbeing 💛

Cyber Safety

Students will be learning to recognise safe and unsafe online interactions, especially in gaming environments, and understand how to respond with responsibility when someone may not be who they say they are.

SWPBS

Students will be focusing on safe play in the playground. The emphasis will be on body safety and help-seeking strategies to ensure everyone feels safe and supported during play.

CBL 🌎

Our inquiry into Community will explore why people connect in communities and groups. Students will investigate different groups within Wonga Park and consider why people choose to join them.

We will also be looking at our own individual identities and how our communities help shape who we are.

How you can support your child at home:

Talk with your child about the groups your family belongs to. Discuss the structure of these groups and any rules or expectations for participation.

Literacy 📚

Students will be developing reading comprehension strategies. Grade 3 students will continue building confidence navigating the NAPLAN testing platform and practising sample questions to feel prepared for testing day.

In writing, students will focus on persuasive texts. They will work on planning, correct structure and using persuasive techniques to create strong, convincing arguments.

How you can support your child at home:

Encourage your child to complete 20 minutes of independent reading each evening and discuss what they are reading. You might also talk about the topics they are writing about and explore different perspectives on those issues.

Mathematics 🧮

Grade 3 students will be continuing to focus on place value and preparing for NAPLAN by exploring the test structure and practising multiple-choice strategies. Grade 4 students will be continuing their work on addition and subtraction.

How you can support your child at home:

Please encourage your child to complete assigned tasks on Mathletics and explore the Multiverse section to strengthen their multiplication skills.

We’re looking forward to our very exciting upcoming camp to Mount Evelyn Camp, taking place on the first two days of Term 2, 20th–21st April.

Our team is busy planning a fun and valuable experience for all students. Camp provides a wonderful opportunity for children to build independence, strengthen friendships and enjoy new challenges and experiences in a supportive environment.

Please log in to Sentral to provide permission as soon as possible. This will help us finalise numbers and ensure everything is well organised for a fantastic camp experience.

We will be sending home additional notices such as a clothing list and medical notices during the week to help you prepare.

If we can support you in anyway, please contact your classroom teacher.
