We value our partnership with parents and carers, which plays a vital role in your child’s learning success. This will be highlighted during our Student-Led Conferences in Week 9. We encourage you to regularly ask your child about their day, establish home reading routines, and celebrate positive behaviors.

Teachers will acknowledge student achievements through Positive Behaviour notifications on Xuno. If you haven’t signed up for Xuno yet, please contact your campus admin team for assistance, as it is a key communication tool.

Thank you for supporting your child’s learning journey and for ensuring they arrive with their hat each day.

HASS / Inquiry

This term the 3-6 students are exploring ‘Physical Sciences’ that will be linked across several areas of the curriculum. The year 3/4 students are focusing on forces and motion. They will investigate how pushes and pulls impact the way objects move and interact in different environments, students will use hands-on observations to describe and predict motion. They will develop scientific skills by asking questions, conducting simple experiments, and communicating their findings.

This term the year 5/6 students will focus on Electricity & Circuits. Students will explore electricity and circuits by investigating how electrical energy is used in everyday technologies and how different components (like batteries, wires, bulbs and switches) impact the flow of electricity in series and parallel circuits. They will plan and conduct investigations to test questions about circuit design, make predictions, collect evidence and communicate their understanding.

What you can do to support at home:

Engage in conversations around what students have been learning in the classroom.

English

In English, our students have been using mentor texts to explore narrative and non fiction texts. Students have been learning how to write a variety of sentence types incorporating a range of vocabulary. In Reading, students are developing their oral reading fluency through reading aloud, paired exercises and through obtaining peer feedback.

What you can do at home to support:

  • Read with your child each night  - all classes have started visiting the school library to give students an opportunity to borrow a book to bring home.

Mathematics

In Maths, students have been learning about Whole Numbers and Time. Students have been refining their time telling skills while also learning to interpret timetables and calculate elapsed time. Later in the term, the 5/6 students will explore using units of measurement while expanding their knowledge of place value to decimal numbers while the 3/4 students will develop their understanding of odd and even numbers.

What you can do at home to support:

  • Discuss telling the time on digital and analogue clocks
  • Practice working out the duration and elapsed time of various events they participate in
  • Practice reading and ordering and sharing knowledge of  3-, 4-, 5- and 6-digit numbers
