Central Australia Tour 2025
At 6am on Saturday 28 June, 45 students and five staff embarked on the 5,000k tour of Central Australia, in what was the first of many memorable hours on the bus.
We traversed the Vic/SA border and on to the Flinders Ranges, where we hiked through Wilpena Pound, glimpsed an endangered spotted quoll and witnessed Ryder W. unexpectedly transform into an art gallery curator. From there we had a slight bus/trailer mishap that resulted in a bonus night spent in the underground accommodation of Coober Pedy. Unfortunately this meant that we missed out on the experience of bush camp, but for many this was offset by access to running water in all its hygienic glory.
We crossed the SA/NT border and made our way to the remarkable Kings Canyon where we completed the challenging but highly rewarding rim walk. In the words of Jaz C. - a mission, but definitely worth it! Then on to Uluru, which is so iridescently beautiful at sunset, and on to Alice Springs, back through Coober Pedy, Port Augusta and an overnight bus ride home.
Highlights of the bus tour included: DJ Turner (especially his anecdotal insights into topics ranging from the speed/distance/time theory to ‘the inferior Justin’), Ellana B’s impassioned rendition of Horses and our final song of each day, Country Roads. Congratulations to Jaz C., Indi C., Olivia R. and Jed R., for taking out the reverse song draws.
We hope students have fond memories of campfires, the cave rave and the majesty of Central Australia. Thank you to Nathan, Jo and Paula from Rockleigh Tours for looking after us. I would also like to extend a thank you to our staff - Anne Wilkins, Clare Rayner, Justin Turner and Jacob de Kunder - for their immeasurable contribution to this wonderful trip.

Week 11 Alternative Program
In the last week of Term 2, students who remained at school participated in an alternative program. Here are some insights into the activities:
Art - students were provided with scraps of paper and examples of artworks as inspiration for their own creations. Some excellent outcomes were achieved.
Planting - students worked with Yarra Ranges Shire to plant in the Old Pound Reserve. In one hour, the students had planted 1,500 grasses and shrubs - an amazing achievement!
Careers Expo
Year 10 students attended the Melbourne Career Expo at the Exhibition Centre on Friday 25 July. The expo showcases a wide range of career opportunities, covering employment, further education and training across the trades, corporate and professional sectors. Students were encouraged to engage with industry professionals and ask questions about their potential pathways. We are constantly so impressed with how our students represent the College and model the College Values of Excellence, Respect and Responsibility.
Year 10 CATch-up!
Join us on Thursdays after school in the library to catch-up on overdue CATs and learning tasks. A raffle will be drawn each week so make sure to be there!
