Haven Calendar of Events

What a busy term we have had with many events and incursions, we look forward what comes in Term 3. For all families please never hesitate to reach out if you would like to contribute to our educational programs or calendar of events. We love engaging with our community and continue to expand the opportunities for children's learning and development.
Mothers day
What a highlight our Mother's day afternoon was, thankyou to everyone that attended.
Reptile encounters (Forest and Field)
Kids Roar (Forest and Field)
Thankyou to Kids Roar for delivering Personal Body Safety Sessions to our 3 and 4 year old Kindergarten children. Kids Roar empowers children with tools to feel safe at all times, including learning protective behaviours & language, safe and unsafe choices and body anatomy. https://www.roaraustralia.edu.au/kids-roar/
-Cool kids first Aid
Our 4yr old Kindergarten children now know the essential steps to take in saving a life and what to do in emergency situations thanks to Simone from Cool Kids First Aid.
The children can now: Recognise a safe person, Identify an emergency, Call for help using 000, Respond to someone who’s unconscious and use bandages to help stop bleeding.
First Nations incursion & NAIDOC week
We welcomed Ganga Giri from Didgeridoo Australia for a special incursion and as part of our NAIDOC Week celebrations. Through songs, arts, dance, and of course the incredible sounds of the didgeridoo, all rooms were immersed in First Nations culture, learning about the stories, rhythms and spirit of the land in which we live, learn, and play.
A big thankyou to Rowville Primary School for our continued partnership with the 4 year old Kindergarten children able to immerse themselves in a foundation class.
On the 23rd and 24th we have Kiddie Smiles visit to conduct Dental health checks on all children. We hope this helped families get these checks done in a comfortable environment while supporting children to see dentist visits are not that scary.

Recipe from Julia -Creamy Silken Tofu, Tuna & Sweet Corn Risotto
Give it a go we promise the children will love it (they eat it here)! :)
- 25ml olive oil
- 150g brown onion, finely diced
- 8g minced garlic (Note: 8 g = 1½ tsp)
- 400g frozen carrots, peas and corn mix
- 1g oregano, dried (or swap with any herb or spice of choice. Note: 1 g = 1 tsp)
- 600g silken tofu
- 425g Tuna
- 300g arborio rice
- 1L liquid vegetable stock (or swap with salt reduced option)
- 120g tasty cheese block, grated
Method
Step 1 of 7
-Preheat the oven to 180°C fan-forced.
Step 2 of 7
-Heat olive oil in a large oven-safe dish over medium heat. Once the oil is hot, add the diced onion and garlic. Cook, stirring, until softened and fragrant.
Step 3 of 7
-Add the frozen carrots, peas and corn mix and dried oregano. Stir and cook until the vegetables are heated through.
Step 4 of 7
-Add the arborio rice and stir for 1 minute to coat the grains in the mixture.
Step 5 of 7
-Pour in the vegetable stock. Mix well to combine all ingredients.
Step 6 of 7
-Cover the dish with a lid or foil and bake in the preheated oven for about 45 minutes, or until the stock is absorbed and the rice is cooked through. Check regularly and stir. Add more stock or water if needed to achieve the right creamy consistency. (Note: option to cook risotto on the stove top instead of the oven if preferred).
Step 7 of 7
-Remove the dish from the oven (or stove if using) and stir in the silken tofu and grated cheese (note: option to blend the silken tofu before mixing through the risotto). Mix until cheese is melted and risotto is creamy.
