Haven Service Reminders

Family Survey

Thankyou to all the families that completed our family voice survey. We received some beautiful comments about our educators, teachers, facilities, menu and education being provided showcasing the areas we need to continue highlighting and excelling in. Alongside this we received some feedback on how we can continue to improve Haven and further support families and children, including:

-Increased individual detail & communication at pickup

-Information on children’s days such as how much they ate, nappy changes and sleep. Helping families to see where these records are available to review.

-Sharing information and following up communication around illnesses, incidents & injuries

-All children included in photo updates/ weekly reflections

For any families that did not get the chance to complete the survey if there is feedback you would like to share please do not hesitate to email or reach out. Thankyou

Record Keeping

Following the above notes on our family survey, Haven hopes to reassure families that information on children's food, toileting, sleep and sunscreen is always recorded and available to be viewed. This includes:

-Sunscreen being applied every 2 hours when the UV is above 3

-Children's nappy changes and when toileting training is always recorded with at least 4-5 nappy changes per day

-Meals are recorded through 1/2/3 servings which are in child size bowls (as picture attached). This will also note when a child 'has been offered but declined' and then the child was encouraged with the food but ate a 'plain version' (eg plain pasta).

-Sleep is always recorded and timed with 10 minutes sleep checks in River room and staff members always present in the sleeping areas for the older age groups.

If you are not sure on any of these records or would like to view please speak to staff members within care rooms.

Child Safety and Wellbeing

Haven places the safety and wellbeing of every child in our care as our highest priority. At Haven, we are committed to maintaining a safe, nurturing and transparent environment and are always here to answer any questions or concerns family may have.

Please refer to a Storypark community post on the 10th July for further information but a quick breakdown is below:

-Haven uses a consistent team on casuals who are rostered on each week being Tejal, Sam, Ulka and Karen.

-Our rooms are rostered 1 educator over ratio each day to limited the need for casuals and multiple staff entering and exiting the room each day.

-When needed to cover ratio Haven will engage with ANZUK a trusted agency for educators, in which we have developed a curated list of staff who will attend Haven.

-Haven will take on board any regulatory changes in relation to CCTV.

-Haven focuses on on embedding child safety and body safety into all of our rooms, supporting children to protect themselves, be informed of safe and unsafe behaviour and continued education around who they can go to for help.

Digital Devices-

All rooms at Haven use centre issues Ipads and computers for education, photo/video and programming purposes. This includes the use of Storypark, educational videos and songs, logging children’s attendance and most importantly open communication with families. These devices are set up and managed by our IT department including monitoring with functions such as being able to remotely lock devices in the case they went missing or concerns were raised. Following the National Model Code, staff personal devices are not to be used within rooms or on staff while working with children.

A reminder for families and visitors-  Any visitors to Haven including families, students, event coordinators and contractors are not permitted to photograph/ video any children.

We respect and are grateful for the trust that families and children place in us and want to reassure you that Haven remains a safe, supportive and well-managed service, who is highly committed to upholding children’s safety and wellbeing
