Traditionally, we celebrate Grandparents' Day close to the feast day for Saints Joachim and Anne as they were the parents of the Virgin Mary and Grandparents of Jesus.
During this time, we also acknowledge the joy Grandparents and Grandfriends bring to the lives of their families, especially their grandchildren. Grandparents and Grandfriends bring a real sense of history to a family as they share many family stories. They can give the rest of the family a sense of belonging. Our Grandparents and Grandfriends have a special place in our families, our society and our world. Grandparents are the ones responsible for passing on wisdom, values, and principles from generation to generation, helping us lead a better and more fulfilling life. And, for this, we thank them.
We gathered to celebrate our Grandparents and Grandfriends with a Liturgy and shared morning tea. It was exciting to see so many visitors in our school enjoying quality time with their children/grandchildren.
Thank you to all of our special visitors who took the time, travelled long distances, and came to celebrate with us. Here are some photos from our morning together:
The Miniature Cathedral will visit our Sacred Heart Parish from Saturday 9th September and will remain in the Church until Saturday 16th September. Our students will go on a pilgrimage to the Church to view the relics from St Joseph's and St Mary's Cathedral. Furthermore, our students will attend the Deanery Mass at St Bridgid's Church, Quirindi on Thursday 16th October. They will then visit St Joseph's School to share morning tea with their staff and children. Further details will be provided closer to the date.
Our Year 6 students will participate in an online Religious Education Test, which will be conducted on Tuesday 13th August. The test consists of 40 multiple-choice questions that assess students' understanding of Religious Education content covered throughout their time learning in a Catholic school.
