Deputy Principal Staff and Students Report

Child Safety

As we return from holidays, we are always mindful that for some students the break has been fantastic, enriching and really positive. For other students they may have had a difficult and challenging break. It is good for us as teachers to have our eyes and ears open and be tuned in to the students in our care. To assist us to provide the best support to your child we encourage you to contact the College and speak to your child’s Pastoral Teacher should there be any issues that may need to be brought to our attention.  The more we work as a team, the better we are able to support you in your role as the primary educators of your child.

New Start

As we begin Semester 2, it is a new chapter for all students. For those students who have done well, it is an opportunity to further grow and develop. For the students who did not have the semester they would have liked, it is a new beginning, everyone starts again. It is a good time to reflect, set some goals and start the semester off well and work towards achieving your goals. We encourage Parents, Guardians and Carers to talk to your child and set some goals based on their Semester 1 experience and report. Please encourage your child to talk to their teachers, wellbeing and pastoral staff to work together and walk together to set and achieve goals.

The Three Rs

As a school, we have behavioural expectations that we call the Three Rs – Respect, Responsibility and Resilience. We aim to teach our students in different contexts in the school, in the community, in extra-curricular activities about what respect, responsibility and resilience look like.  How we can live them out in action.  Working together as a team we encourage you to have a conversation with your child about living these Three Rs in all aspects of their life which can only help them to grow.

Our Catholic Faith

In our Catholic Faith, Our Lord invites and challenges us to go beyond just being respectful but to love your neighbour as yourself (Mark 12:30-31). When we invite Our Lord into our life and allow His love to touch and shape our hearts we move from just doing what is right, to genuine love and care for all people.  It is the presence, the person of Jesus the Nazarene that we desire to be at the centre of our school. He leads us to living life to the full (John 10:10) and in ways we never possibly could without Him.

In this Jubilee Year, we are encouraged to open the door of our heart more to Jesus who takes nothing away and gives everything (Pope Benedict the 16th).  As we start this new chapter and set new goals may we all set one goal of growing closer to Jesus. This maybe through daily prayer time, reading the scriptures for a few minutes each day, attending a weekday Mass, serving in the Vinnies and serving people in need. Take some time to reflect and make a small resolution to do something this year to grow closer to Our Lord.

Holy Family of Nazareth,

be our inspiration and our guide.

Jesus of Nazareth,

help us to grow in Faith, Wisdom and Knowledge
