Level 3

Writing
This week, students have been loving exploring and planning their own narratives inspired by The Night Zoo from The Literacy Shed. We have thoroughly planned our characters, settings, and problems to create engaging stories. Using our five senses, we’ve added rich descriptions to help our readers vividly imagine each scene. Students have also been practicing writing dialogue to bring their characters to life and make their stories more interesting. Many students are excited to start drafting their narratives, using their detailed plans as a guide.
Numeracy
Over the past 2 weeks, students have been focusing on adding different amounts of money, practising with coins and notes in real-life scenarios like shopping and budgeting. We are also linking these skills to our multiplication strategies, helping students solve problems such as calculating the total cost of multiple items or working within a budget. These activities build confidence in using money in everyday situations.
Inquiry
We have started planning and exploring our inquiry project for this term: Life Cycles. Students have been researching various life cycles and creating life cycle environments inside shoebox dioramas. They will also film a stop motion picture to showcase the life cycle they have studied.
