Level 1

Literacy
In Literacy, Level 1 have been researching different minibeasts and gathering information on their classification, appearance, habitat, diet, life cycle and lifespan. They have been working on using the information to write a structured information report, using detailed sentences. This week, students began researching a minibeast of their choice, to research and write an information report on.
Maths
In Maths, we have been exploring measurement. We have completed a variety of tasks, to explore length, volume/capacity and mass. Students measured objects around the room using non-standard units, such as unifix. They explored volume/capacity by filling different sized containers with water, sand and other materials. Lastly, students explored mass by hefting objects and using scales to compare the weight of different objects.
Inquiry/Melbourne Museum & I-MAX
In Inquiry, we have been learning about a variety of minibeasts and their attributes. Level 1 went on a scavenger hunt to find minibeasts in the kitchen garden and then sorted the minibeasts based on their attributes. On Tuesday, we went to the Melbourne Museum and I-MAX. Students enjoyed learning more about minibeasts and investigating the characteristics that help them survive in the forest.
