WE WANT OUR PARENTS / CAREGIVERS / GUARDIANS TO TELL US WHAT THEY THINK!
Our school is conducting the annual Parent / Caregiver / Guardian Opinion Survey offered by the Department of Education and is seeking your feedback. The survey is designed to assist schools in gaining an understanding of families’ perceptions of school climate, student behaviour, and student engagement. The survey is optional, but we encourage and appreciate your participation. Our school will use the survey results to assist in identifying areas for improvement and professional development needs in the school, to target school planning and improvement strategies.
The Parent / Caregiver / Guardian Opinion Survey will be open online from Monday 18 August to Friday 19 September 2025.
To complete the survey, simply:

At Heathmont East Primary School, we are proud to be a School-Wide Positive Behaviour (SWPBS) school, where we focus on creating a safe, respectful, and supportive learning environment for every student. This term, we are shining a spotlight on two key focus areas that are central to our positive school culture: Positive Interactions and School Pride (Environment).
We believe that respectful and kind interactions form the foundation of a strong school community. Throughout the term, students and staff have been working together to promote:
Taking pride in our school environment helps everyone feel a sense of belonging. This term, we’re encouraging students to:
SWPBS is more than just a program – it’s a way of life at our school. Thank you to all students, staff, and families for your continued support in building a positive school culture. Together, we are helping every student learn, grow, and thrive in an environment where they feel valued and respected.
Let’s keep up the fantastic work as we move through the term!
We celebrated Book Week on Monday, with the theme “Book an Adventure.” Students dressed as their favourite book characters for our much-loved Book Parade. Parents and families joined us to cheer on the colourful costumes. We also welcomed children’s author Sarah Speedie for the day. Sarah ran engaging workshops with all year levels, inspiring students with her stories and sharing insights into the writing process. Thank you to Mrs Appleby and the Literacy team for planning a fun-filled program that ignited a love of reading and storytelling across the school.
A few weeks ago, our Level 3–6 students headed off to the A.C. Robertson Athletics Track in Ringwood for an exciting day of competition. Thankfully, the rain held off and the students enjoyed themselves immensely. Throughout the day, they participated in a variety of track and field events, including high jump, long jump, triple jump, 100m sprint, 800m, shot put, and discus, just to name a few. A big thank you to Michael Hodgson for his fantastic organisation in making this event happen and our volunteers that assisted on the day. Here are some action shots capturing the energy and enthusiasm of the day!
Our school celebrated Science Week with the exciting theme “Decoding the Universe.” Festivities began at Monday’s assembly with a presentation from our STEAM Captains, followed by the Students vs Teachers science challenge for Grades 5 and 6. Our STEAM and Sustainability rooms were transformed into hands-on science labs during lunchtimes. Students explored conductivity, created crystals, investigated light and rainbows, tested energy with plasma balls, and more! A big thank you to Tanya and her team for their fantastic work in organising such a fun and inspiring week of science learning!
26th August 7.00-7.30 PM BER Building
Heathmont East Primary School is pleased to invite you to attend an information session on 26th August from 7.00 pm until 7.30pm to hear from our guest speaker from the ‘Think You Know’ program about the tools that parents and educators need to create a safer online environment for children in a digital age.
The presentation will be delivered by a local law enforcement member. The presentation is pro-technology and addresses topics including self-generated child abuse material, online grooming, sexual extortion, and importantly encourages help seeking behaviour.
This is a fantastic opportunity for you to learn more about young people and the online environment, and how you can help them to be safe and responsible users of technology.
This presentation will follow the Chromebook program information evening for current Grade 4 parents which commences at 6.45pm in the BER. We welcome all parents from across our community to attend the digital safety session after this.
