Art
Foundation
Foundation students have been exploring line, colour and shape while making friendly colour monsters. They have also been looking at colour and pattern and have created colourful jellyfish using different materials such as coffee filters.
Grade 1
Students were inspired by Dutch painter, Piet Mondrian to create these Australian animal illustrations. They carefully traced and cut their animals then created a grid formation and coloured it using primary colours. Students then began to notice this abstract design on many items from buildings to fabric some 100 years after its original was created.
Grade 2
Grade 2 have been learning about Australian artists Pete Cromer and Anna Blatman. They are enjoying creating Australian birds inspired by the artists and their use of shapes and colour.
Grade 3
Studentsobserved the distinct shape, colours and patterns of traditional Greek vases before painting these. We looked at earthy tones, paint techniques so colours wouldn't run and processes to incorporate mixed media to add authentic texture. Their next project is creating a Mexican 'God's eye' by weaving yarn over sticks.
Grade 4
Grade 4 are looking at the collage works of Pete Cromer. They have chosen an Australian animal and have created their very own collage pieces using water colours. We can’t wait to see their final artworks when they are finished.
Grade 5
Students have completed a radial symmetry print by first painting concentric circles for the background then making a square foam plate with patterns that will be rotated 4 times to create a full circle. It has been interesting, tricky, challenging and very rewarding when the final piece was completed.
Grade 6
Students completed a mini masterpiece by choosing a small portion of a well-known painting, enlarging and recreating it. They focused on mixing their own colours and a variety of paint application techniques. Grades 5 and 6 are currently creating a clay house using the slab hand building technique and learning how to adhere attachments to the base.
