Level 6

It  has certainly been a busy couple of weeks with Years 3-6 Athletics Day at Proclamation Park, Science Week and Book Week with an author visit from Sarah Speedie, author of books such as Mozzies Vs Flies and Meowster Cat. 

Year 6 have also been busy in the classrooms continuing their learning. 

Reading

Keeping with our Inquiry unit topic of Biology - Living Things, students have been reading through and analysing detailed information about extinction and food chains and formulating critical questions and giving thoughtful critical responses to them and sharing their ideas with others. 

Students have also been enjoying Book Club sharing their thoughts and ideas together about the book and having meaningful and rich conversations about the text which has helped them have a deeper understanding of reading both within and beyond the text. 

Writing

Students have been busy researching animals and the adaptations that they have made in order to survive in their environment. Students have written an explanation report to describe these adaptations looking at behavioural, structural and physiological adaptions and how these have helped their chosen animal. 

Athletics Day

Year 3-6 students headed to Proclamation Park in Ringwood for Athletics Day. It was wonderful to see every student have a go and try their best in all the events with several students achieving personal bests and qualifying for district athletics. A fun day was had by all.

Book Week

It was wonderful to see so many students dressed up as book characters as we celebrate Book Week with the theme of Book an Adventure. Students have spent time immersed in books, reading stories and even writing their own collaborative story where students write for 2 minutes before passing it on to another student to continue on the story for another 2 minutes and so on. A lot of fun was had seeing how their original story turned out. 

We were also very lucky to have Melbourne based author Sarah Speedie come to visit and talk about her journey as an author and share some of her fun stories with the school.
