A Wrap-Up of Term 3

As we close out Term 3, I want to take a moment to reflect on the many highlights of this busy and successful term.

Farewell Year 12

This week we had the privilege of farewelling our Year 12 students at a truly memorable Graduation Ceremony. For the first time, this special event was held in our brand-new school hall, with over 1000 students, families, friends, and staff coming together to celebrate. It was a fantastic occasion that reflected the pride we have in our graduating class and their many achievements.

To our Year 12 parents and carers, thank you for your ongoing partnership in your child’s learning journey. Your encouragement, support, and connection to our school have been invaluable. As we farewell not only our Year 12 students but also the families who leave us this year, please know you will always remain an important part of the Cecil Hills High School story.

I also wish to acknowledge the tireless work of our Year Advisers, Deputy Principals, teachers, and administration staff, whose efforts have guided, supported, and celebrated Year 12 every step of the way. From classroom teaching to wellbeing support, and the organisation of the graduation ceremony itself, their dedication has been outstanding.

As Year 12 prepare for their upcoming HSC examinations, we wish them every success. The coming weeks will no doubt be filled with study, revision, and preparation, but I also encourage our students to remember the importance of balance. Effective study plans, regular breaks, and time for family, friends, and wellbeing will be just as important as the hours spent with books and notes. We are confident that their hard work will pay off, and we are very proud of all they have achieved.

Road Safety around our school

As many of our Year 12 students return to school for exams and our Year 11 students begin obtaining their licences, I want to remind everyone about the importance of safe road use. Parents and carers play a vital role in reinforcing safe driving and pedestrian habits. Together, we can help keep our young people safe by following these important reminders:

  • Drop your child off and pick them up on the school side of the road.
  • Never call out to them from across the road—it is very dangerous.
  • Always take extra care in 40km school zones.
  • Follow all parking signs—these help keep your child as safe as possible.
  • Park responsibly, even if it means you have to walk further to the school gate.
  • Never double park—it is illegal and puts children at risk.
  • Never do a U-turn or a three-point turn outside the school, as it puts children at risk of harm.
  • Model safe and considerate pedestrian and driver behaviours to your child.
  • Always give way to pedestrians, particularly when entering and leaving driveways.
  • Please respect our neighbours and refrain from parking across driveways and on front lawns.

Thank you to our parents and carers for your partnership in helping us promote road safety and responsibility during this busy time of year.

2025 Student Leadership team morning tea

This term, we also celebrated the outstanding contributions of our 2025 Student Leadership Group with a special thank you morning tea in Week 9. Their dedication, creativity, and service to our school community have been exceptional, and I commend them for the legacy they leave behind. Next term, we will proudly introduce and welcome our incoming student leadership team, who will continue this important work.

R Block ready open its doors in Term 4

From the first day next term, Tuesday 14 October, students will move into their new learning spaces. We will begin the term with a whole-school assembly to explain room changes and ensure a smooth transition for everyone. We will also have additional staff on site to support students navigate the building.

To share this achievement with our wider community, R Block school tours will be held throughout Term 4. These tours will give families and community members the chance to see our new facilities first-hand. Information about bookings will be shared on our school social media platforms, so please keep an eye out.

NSW Volunteer of the Year Award

Finally, I would like to extend warm congratulations to Mr Chandler and our school community on being nominated for the NSW Volunteer of the Year Award. This is well-deserved recognition of the outstanding service and commitment to others that underpins our school culture.

I wish all students, families, and staff a safe and restful break. Thank you for your ongoing support throughout Term 3, and I look forward to welcoming everyone back for an exciting Term 4.
