Get Lit-erary: Our Book Week Was Off the Shelf!
Dear Parents and Carers,
We are absolutely thrilled to share the highlights of our recent Open Day, which turned out to be a truly amazing experience for our library and our entire school community. This year’s theme, "Book an Adventure," inspired our students to unleash their creativity, and let me tell you, they did not disappoint! Our school was transformed into a vibrant world filled with heroes and villains, as students proudly showcased their fantastic costumes. We understand the time, effort, and imagination that goes into preparing these outfits at home, and we sincerely thank you for making the day so memorable and special for our children.
It was truly heartwarming to see so many students participating this year! In fact, we had almost double the number of students taking part in the parade compared to previous years. The excitement was palpable as they marched proudly, and it was clear they loved every moment of it. Book Week is more than just an event; it is a wonderful opportunity for us to celebrate our learning achievements together as a community. The book parade, in particular, serves as a fantastic way to honour our library and the amazing reading opportunities it offers to our children. It’s a joy to see them so engaged and enthusiastic about reading!
Now, let's talk about the Book Fair, which was also a tremendous success this year! Thank you to everyone who visited and supported the fair. Your presence and enthusiasm made all the difference! We noticed a significant increase in interest this year, which is wonderful to see. It’s always heartening to witness parents encouraging their children's love for reading and helping them discover new stories and adventures.
We are also deeply grateful to those who generously donated books to our school. Your support is invaluable! This year, we aimed to collect, an extremely ambitious, six boxes of books, and thanks to your kindness and generosity, we received four overflowing with amazing titles! These donations will allow us to add new books to our collection for all students to enjoy, both now and in the future.
Additionally, we are excited to share that for each book that was donated, we receive 15% of the sale back, which helps us purchase even more books for our library. Thanks to your contributions, we will likely be able to acquire an additional box of books at no cost to the school. Our library staff are truly blown away by the generosity of our community, and it highlights the importance of working together to create a rich learning environment for our children.
From all of us at the school, thank you once again for your incredible support and involvement in making Open Day/ Book Week/ Education Week a success. Together, we are fostering a love for reading and learning in our students, and it’s a beautiful thing to witness.
