Term 3 Hub Groups

Our Hub Groups are back for Term 3, and students are already diving into connection, support, and fun! These small, engaging groups give students the opportunity to build friendships, strengthen their social skills, and be part of a positive and inclusive school community.

Each week, Education Support staff run a variety of group activities designed to support student wellbeing, social development, emotional regulation and teamwork. Whether it’s through creative arts and crafts, games, skill-building challenges, or simply enjoying a safe and supportive space to chat, our Hub Groups are a highlight of the week for many students.

The benefits of Hub Groups go far beyond the activities themselves. Students learn how to:

  • Work as part of a team.

  • Build communication and problem-solving skills.

  • Develop resilience and confidence.

  • Make and strengthen friendships.

Most importantly, they have a lot of fun along the way!

An important part of many of our Hub Groups is the use of the Zones of Regulation framework. This program helps students recognise and understand their emotions by categorising them into four colour-coded zones: Blue (low energy/sad), Green (calm/ready to learn), Yellow (frustrated/worried), and Red (angry/overwhelmed). During group time, students learn strategies to regulate their emotions, move back to the green zone, and choose helpful coping tools when challenges arise. This skill-building supports their wellbeing both at school and in everyday life.

It’s been fantastic to see so many smiling faces, new connections forming, and students supporting each other in such a positive way. We’re excited for another wonderful term of Hub Groups and look forward to seeing our students thrive, both in and out of the classroom.
