The 'Game of Democracity' Initiative
SCC's Year 6 students have been exploring democracy in an exciting and innovative way!
Our Year 6 teachers have partnered with the Australian Electoral Commission to help develop a new educational game called Democracity. This interactive game helps students understand the voting process and how preferential voting works.
SCC is proud to be the first school in Tasmania to pilot this initiative, enhancing students’ understanding of democratic principles through engaging, hands-on learning.
Amit from the Australian Electoral Commission flew down from Sydney this week to visit our school and test our game.
Bags of Hope
2 days left to donate!
Non-perishable grocery items can be left in the tub outside the College office.
Our Year 10 and 11 student leaders are supporting a Salvation Army initiative. We are asking our College community to help spread the joy of Christmas by filling Bags of Hope this Christmas. - See separate page for Shopping List of suggested items to donate.

Return of Instruments
Can all musical instruments which belong to Southern Christian College please be returned to the office?
We need to have these accounted for and serviced over the holidays.

Year 7 Orientation Day
Christmas Canteen!
Our final canteen will be held next Friday 6 December. The ordering is via the Qkr! app and cutoff date is Wednesday 4 December at 6pm. The menu is:
- GF Chicken Nuggets (pk 3) – $2.70
- Meringue Nests with cream and strawberry (GF, V) – $3.00
- Chocolate or strawberry milk – $2.50

Hand Washing Reminder!
Please remind your children of the importance of hand washing well and often.
Gastroenteritis
We have had a couple of incidences of Gastroenteritis over the past week. Please be advised that children are not to return to school until they have been free from vomiting or diarrhoea for at least 48 hours from their last episode.
2024 Schools’ Triathlon Challenge - This Week!
For students who have previously registered.
The Schools Triathlon Challenge will be held at Bellerive Beach on these dates:
- Secondary years (7-12) – Thursday 28 November, students depart SCC at 7:30am.
- Primary years (3-6) – Friday 29 November, students depart SCC at 7:15am.
Primary school to drop bikes off Thursday morning before school on the outside of the external gym storeroom rollerdoor area.
We look forward to great day of fun and competition, with a fantastic team once again representing Southern Christian College.

The Uniform Shop will close for the year on Thursday 5 December at 3:30pm. It will re-open for 'Back to School' on Wednesday 22 January.

School Picnic
Friday 13 December - Last day of school!
The School Picnic is be held in two locations:
Primary Picnic at Kingston Park
Secondary Picnic at Long Beach
Students will be transported to and from each location, and more information will be available in the Consent2Go which will be sent out shortly. Please could students bring a hat, water bottle and snacks to supplement their sausage sizzle lunch, which will be provided by the school.
