STAFF NEWS

Congratulations to Mrs Trew and Mrs Hardie who will be going on parental leave over the rest of the term in preparation for the birth of their new babies. We wish them all the best during this exciting time.

Mrs Elise Cookwill be leaving the St Patrick's community at the end of the year. Mrs Cook has been at St Pat's for a number of years and is moving to St Christopher's Panania, where she will be taking on a co-ordinator role. Mrs Cook will be sadly missed by our community but we wish her all the best in this new role.

Miss Jackie Williams will also be leaving us to be closer to her family. She will be taking up a teaching role at Mary Immaculate, Quakers Hill in 2025. We also wish her all the best in this new adventure.

STUDENT EYE CARE PROGRAM

The school is pleased to announce that the Student Eyecare Program will be running at the school in early Term 1, 2025. An optometrist will be onsite during school hours to provide students with a free comprehensive eye examination that is covered through Medicare Australia.

1 in 6 students have eye conditions that go undetected. This is due to the high level of visual demand on their eyes from books, laptops, tablets and smartphones. Every student will receive a full report about their eye health and a prescription will be provided if glasses are required. The prescription can be taken to any optical store to get the glasses made. Don’t miss out on this wonderful opportunity.

READY TO LEARN PLANS

As part of the Berry Street program, all students and teachers at St Patrick's have developed their own Ready to Learn plan. A Ready to Learn Plan is a pre-arranged agreement between students and teachers, providing clear strategies which students use to feel regulated for learning.

These plans are updated frequently and communicated to all members of staff so that when things don't go as expected we can all use the same language to assist the student to be ready to learn (and/or play).

Students self-identify what 'triggers' them, how their body reacts to those triggers and what strategy they can put in place to self and co-regulate. Ask your child what is on their ready to learn plan. You will be surprised at how open and honest they are and how positive they are about using a strategy to help them stay active classroom participants.

STAFF PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT DAYS IN 2025

We are currently finalising our Staff Professional Development Days for 2025. These will be communicated to you before the end of the school year. As part of a network of schools some of these days will be held across the shire to assist teachers with the continued implementation of new syllabus documents.
