Victorian High Ability Masterclass with North Ringwood and Great Ryrie Primary School
HEPS students have joined with Great Ryrie and North Ringwood Primary School to work together as part of the Victorian High Ability Program. The idea is that students participating in the VHAP program work in person. Friday the 29th of November saw our students travel to North Ringwood and collaborate with other students from these schools.
The Literacy Masterclass content covered making writing more engaging with experimenting with vocabulary, editing their stories from 250 words down to 25 words. Can you deliver the same message and write like Hemingway was their challenge?
The Maths Masterclass saw some opportunities for code breaking and an Amazing race collaborative problem-solving challenge.
Maths Olympiad with Heathmont College
On Wednesday the 27th of November, our Maths Olympiad students had the opportunity to participate in a Maths masterclass, run by a Mathematics teacher from Heathmont College. Throughout 2024, HEPS have had an ongoing partnership with Heathmont College, where we have engaged and collaborated with secondary students in Mathematics.
The Math Olympiad students enjoyed their special masterclass, where they attempted some curly questions, and worked collaboratively to solve various problems. We then hosted a morning tea to congratulate the students on their hard work throughout the year.
ICAS Opportunity for our students
We are excited to invite our students to participate in the ICAS all-stars competition in 2025. This competition is an external competition that students can choose to participate in outside of HEPS. Like the state championships in athletics, this competition aims to bring prestige to students in academic subjects. Students must have achieved a merit level or above in the 2024 ICAS assessments to be eligible. Please see the ICAS website or follow the link below for more information. Parents are able to independently register their children.
