Resilience, Rights and Respectful Relationships

Cheltenham East Primary School is a proud Respectful Relationships school.

Respectful relationships education is part of the Victorian Curriculum and delivered by all Victorian government schools. It supports students to develop the knowledge, attitudes and skills needed for respectful relationships, and helps to build respect and equality across the entire school community.

Research tells us that providing respectful relationships education at school can lead to positive impacts on students’ academic outcomes, their mental health, classroom behaviour and relationships.

Our school uses the Department of Education’s evidence-based teaching and learning resources to teach our students about Respectful Relationships from Foundation to Grade 6.

The Resilience, Rights and Respectful Relationships resources have 8 topics that teach students about emotional literacy, personal and cultural strengths, resilience, problem-solving, stress-management, help-seeking, gender norms and stereotypes and positive gender relations.

If you have any questions about Respectful Relationships education, you can contact your child's teacher and visit the Victorian Government’s Respectful Relationships page: https://www.vic.gov.au/respectful-relationships

Parent Committee "thank you"

I would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to our incredible Parent Committee for their tireless efforts and dedication to supporting our school community in 2024. Over the past few years, their hard work and enthusiasm have brought so much joy and opportunity to our students, families, and staff.

From organising school discos, Easter raffles, special food days, trivia nights, and BBQs at both Bunnings and our school on election polling days, to running cherished events like the Mother's Day and Father's Day stalls, their efforts have created countless moments of connection and fun. Who could forget the amazing Colour Run? It was a highlight for everyone involved!

Through their fundraising initiatives, the Parent Association has achieved so much for our school. Their contributions have allowed us to purchase new decodable readers, which teachers have praised for making a significant impact on our younger students' learning. They have also provided new board games and Lego sets for indoor play days, contributed to the installation of new air-conditioning units, and supported the development of our passive play space.

Additionally, thanks to their efforts, our school garden continues to thrive, offering a valuable learning space for our students. We are also thrilled to share that plans are underway to refresh the outdoor asphalt ground games with vibrant new designs and colors—a project that will undoubtedly bring even more excitement to our playground.

Thank you to every member of the Parent Committee for your generosity, time, and dedication. You have made a lasting difference in our school, and we are truly grateful for all you do! In particular this year's leading team are stepping down from their positions and we welcome a new team for 2025. Our genuine thanks goes to the 2024 President Tracey Nathan, Vice President Mag Muller, Secretary Michelle James and Treasurer Rob Dickson for their dedication to their roles. We welcome and congratulate the incoming 2025 Committee – Treasurer: Bhavisha Sharma, Secretary: Maria Kikhel, President: Mag Muller

NEW MEMBERS ARE ALWAYS WELCOME! Please join in with the opportunities on offer in 2025!
