Lord God, we adore you because you have come to us in the past.
You have spoken to us in the Law of Israel.
You have challenged us in the words of the prophets.
You have shown us in Jesus what you are really like.
Lord God, we adore you because you still come to us now.
You come to us through other people and their love and concern for us.
You come to us through men and women who need our help.
You come to us as we worship you with your people.
Lord God, we adore you because you will come to us at the end.
You will be with us at the hour of death.
You will still reign supreme when all human institutions fail.
You will still be God when our history has run its course.
We welcome you, the God who comes.
Come to us now in the power of Jesus Christ our Lord.
Dear Parents and Carers
I would like to extend my thanks to everyone who braved the challenging weather conditions on Friday to attend the P&F Pizza and Movie Night. A special mention goes to Liz and her dedicated organising committee for their hard work behind the scenes, securing fantastic raffle prizes and adapting the event to ensure it went ahead despite the rain. The P&F at STMM plays a crucial role in building strong relationships within our school community, and events like these help to bring us all closer together. However, in order to continue the P & F in need of a new President to step forward in addition to other important executive roles.
We still have a number of exciting whole-school events coming up, and I warmly invite you all to participate. Please be sure to check the dates tab in the newsletter to stay informed.
This week, we also had the privilege of hearing from our Year 5 students as they presented their speeches for leadership positions for 2025. Events like this remind me just how bright our future is. I was truly impressed by the high quality of each speech and the poise and confidence with which every student spoke.
As we journey through Advent this year, we are reminded that God continues to come to us in the present moment through the love and care of others and through those who are in need. It is important that we recognise these moments and the people in our lives who need our help and compassion. During this Advent, let us come together as a school community, opening our hearts to one another. By showing kindness, offering help where it is needed, and extending love and compassion, we prepare ourselves for the coming of the Saviour. Let us be a light to one another, reflecting God’s presence in both our actions and our words.
Next year, we also welcome back some familiar faces in Mrs Giannikos and Mrs Jory and bid farewell to several beloved staff members. As my Nanna used to say, "A bad situation never lasts forever, but sadly, neither does a good one." This year we will say goodbye to Mr. Simpson as he returns to his high school roots, taking up an exciting new position at St Andrew's Cathedral School. Mrs. Brookes who will be leaving us to take up an exciting overseas position in an international school in Malaysia. Miss Clinton who has returned home to Ireland to prepare for her wedding Ms. Sophia who is moving to Orange in country NSW to be closer to family and Mr Mallos who has filled in while Mrs Giannikos and Mrs Jory have been on maternity leave. I’m sure you will join me in wishing these dedicated educators all the very best as they begin the next chapter of their lives and careers. Please see the document below outlining our staff for 2025.
