Yellow Class News Miss Jeffs

What an exciting and productive term it has been! Our students have been working incredibly hard across all learning areas, and we are so proud of the progress they’ve made.
In Maths, students have been learning to tell the time to quarter past and quarter to, tackling balancing equations, and exploring the features and names of a variety of 3Dshapes. Their confidence and understanding have grown so much over the past few weeks.
In English, we have been focusing on the difference between simple and complex sentences, helping students strengthen both their grammar and writing skills. We’ve also continued building on spelling knowledge by learning lots of new sounds—students have shown wonderful enthusiasm and persistence.
One of the biggest achievements this term has been the completion of our abstract mixed-media artworks. These stunning pieces were created through a multi-step process:
- drawing line patterns with crayons,
- colouring foil with textas and then adding water to create beautiful watercolour effects,
- pressing paper onto the foil to transfer the colours, and
- finally cutting and arranging paper pieces onto a foil background.
We also spent time learning about Remembrance Day, discussing its significance and why we take a moment to honour those who served and sacrificed. The students showed great respect and thoughtfulness as they learned about the traditions and meaning behind the poppy.
