Change of preference support hotlines, events, and activities
Tertiary institutions provide a range of seminars, workshops and hotlines to assist applicants with changing their preferences.
Over the past few weeks our Year 10 students have been visiting Bunnings, Sharp Fruit and the Country University Centre (CUC).
Bunnings offered a glimpse into the retail and trade industries, highlighting part-time job opportunities that can lead to valuable skills and future apprenticeships in the trade industry.

At Sharp Fruit, students were amazed by the scale of a working packing shed in our region. They learned about the processes behind getting fresh fruit from the farm to shed for packing and dispatching . They also discovered the variety of roles available in the industry from logistics, accountants and quality control to seasonal work.

Both Bunnings and Sharp Fruit offer part-time positions, and students are encouraged to apply online if interested.
During each visit, we asked our hosts: “What do you look for in a team member?”
Their answer was clear and consistent:

The Country University Centre (CUC)
In previous years, visits to the Country University Centre (CUC) were reserved for our Year 11 and 12 students. This year, we introduced Year 10 students to the centre to give them an early opportunity to become familiar with the study environment. The goal was to help them prepare for future academic pathways, including acceleration programs through universities that some Year 11 students may undertake in 2026.
During the tour, students explored the modern learning spaces and received practical advice on setting goals, managing time effectively, and developing strong study habits as they transition into VCE, VCE VM, and SBAT pathways.
A heartfelt thank you to the team at CUC Mallee for their warm welcome and for sharing such valuable and motivating insights!
