China Through the Eyes of Our Students

Joshua

Our trip to China was a wonderful experience. We tasted lots of great food and saw lots of cool things. We visited some iconic landmarks of China such as the Great Wall, the Forbidden City, and the Temple of Heaven. The Forbidden City was giant but really crowded. Our sister school, Zhongshan Road Primary School, was amazing. It had dozens of classrooms and a giant sports ground. The classes we took were interesting. We cooked, played sports, and attended a Chinese class. We also had buddies from the school who were very friendly. My buddy, Leo, played lots of sports with me and also helped me when we were cooking. I wasn’t very good at it though.

Our buddies joined us to do fun activities over the weekend. They toured us around the school, and we even went to a theme park! Shanghai Disneyland was fun too. The lines weren’t too long, and the rides were thrilling. I went on every roller coaster there was! It was sad to leave China after all the great things we did.

I had lots of fun, but the best part of the trip for me was our buddies. We cooked together, played together, went to their school and experienced a day in their world. We even went BBQing together and visited an amusement park!

After all that, on the last day, we had a night with hot pot (girls-only table while the boys had their boys-only table). Even though it had to end, we had so much fun and we took loads of photos. I also got their WeChat numbers! Yippee!

China was fabulous and I enjoyed many things. For example, the rides at Disneyland were fun, like the Tron roller coaster, Zootopia, and many others. Another highlight of the trip was doing activities with our Zhong Shan Road Primary School buddies. Once we saw our buddies, we were all overjoyed with excitement as it was our first visit to their school. We went to the sports court and played soccer, basketball, badminton and much more!

The next day, we went to a theme park with our buddies and it was amazing. The rides and the view were great! Another big highlight of our trip was visiting the ancient buildings of China like the Great Wall, which had an amazing view, and the Forbidden City, which was exceptional. The food was amazing too, especially the sweet and sour pork and the Chinese steak.

The China trip was amazing. We loved everything from going with our Zhong Shan Road Primary School buddies to a small theme park, to the awesome Tron ride at Shanghai Disneyland. We also visited the Great Wall of China, the Forbidden City, and the Temple of Heaven. It was great fun!

Being with the students at Zhong Shan Road Primary School was one of the highlights. We saw how they learned, and the way they sat at their tables was completely different. All they had to do was sit at their table because their tables were all facing the whiteboard.

This trip was full of once in a lifetime experiences, breathtaking moments, and full of fun and joy, especially sitting at the dinner table looking at dishes I had never seen before. It was the greatest experience ever!

The China trip was such an amazing opportunity. I had so many new experiences, such as trying new foods like Peking duck, duck blood jelly and turtle. Another amazing experience was going to Disneyland in Shanghai for the very first time. I went on rides I would’ve never said yes to before, and I had the best time of my life on them. The highlight of Disneyland had to be the Tron roller coaster. Another highlight of the trip was the Great Wall of China. The view was absolutely breathtaking, and you could see almost every tree dotted across the landscape.

During our stay with our sister school, we did many activities with our buddies such as making steam buns, attending their classes and having free time with them. The best part of our stay with them was going to a small amusement park together. We went on countless rides and cooked lunch with them, strengthening the bond between our two schools. Did you know that when they go to high school, they must attend school until 9 pm? Talk about a disciplined country!

We had many fun and exciting memories on this trip. We explored many cities like Shanghai, Beijing and Nanjing, visiting lots of landmarks and meeting new friends. The food was delicious, and we tried different kinds of food like Peking duck, turtle soup and many more!

Visiting the sister school was one of the best times on this trip. Being a student in China is very different from attending Australian schools. We had to stand up and greet the teachers before we started class. When the visit to the sister school was nearly over, everyone didn’t want to leave!

This trip was amazing, and I wish I could go back again.

Our journey was amazing. We began in Beijing by travelling to the ancient land of the Great Wall, a symbolic message of human unity to create this masterpiece. Then we visited the Temple of Heaven, where emperors once sought blessings. Eventually we arrived at the Forbidden City where the dynasties laid their heads in peace.

After all the excitement, we were greeted with open arms by our sister school, offering warmth and a glance into Chinese culture and school life, exchanging culture, and creating memories that will be passed on, a bond that is unbreakable. Finally, our adventure concluded with Disneyland. Our trip was full of memorable moments, cheerful laughs, and days that we cherished.

China is an amazing place with beautiful cities. We visited Beijing, Nanjing, Zhejiang and Shanghai. In Beijing we went on a rickshaw ride, which was really fun because we got to see the daily life of Chinese citizens. We also visited the Bell Tower and Drum Tower and learned that they were used to tell people when to start and finish work. I really liked the pattern on the Temple of Heaven, and at the science museum we saw lots of AI inventions like robots.

In Zhejiang we met our sister school, exchanged gifts and watched a school function with lots of performances. Later in Shanghai we went on a night river cruise where one of the buildings had lights that made a butterfly. Even though our trip had to end, I enjoyed every part of it and I will always remember China.
