China 2025

Eight excited students Isabella, Aadi, Mia, Akira, Hayden, Jonas, Kalan and Josh recently returned from the trip of a lifetime, a 14-day adventure through China with Kat and Darren, marking our first visit to our sister school since COVID. The journey was filled with unforgettable cultural experiences, historical landmarks and warm reunions.
The adventure began on Sunday, October 19, as the group departed Melbourne bound for Beijing, ready to explore one of the world’s most fascinating countries.
After arriving in Beijing, students enjoyed some free time to settle in before diving into sightseeing. Highlights included a visit to the Forbidden City, a rickshaw tour through the Hutongs, and the lively Qianmen Street precinct. Of course, no trip to China would be complete without a climb along the Great Wall, a definite highlight and one that left everyone in awe.
Before leaving Beijing, students also visited the Temple of Heaven and the Science & Technology Museum, before boarding a bullet train to Nanjing travelling at speeds of up to 300 km/h!
In Nanjing, the group was officially welcomed by staff and students from our sister school. They explored local landmarks including the Nanjing City Wall and Confucius market, taking in the city’s rich cultural heritage. The next few days were spent immersed in school life, with students participating in classes, cultural activities, and homestays with local families — a true highlight of the trip. The warmth and hospitality of the sister school community made this leg of the journey particularly special.
From there, the group travelled to Shanghai, China’s modern metropolis. Students explored the bustling Old Town (Chenghuangmiao), shopped along Nanjing Road, cruised the Huangpu River to see the city lights, and even spent a day at Shanghai Disneyland a magical finale to an incredible adventure.
After two unforgettable weeks, the students returned home on November 1st, tired but full of stories, memories and friendships that will last a lifetime.
The China Study Tour 2025 not only strengthened our partnership with our sister school, but also gave our students a deeper understanding of China’s culture, history and people. It was a truly memorable experience that will be talked about for years to come.
Yours in partnership,
Darren
