Child Safe & Wellbeing
Safety, Respect and Learning
Over the next three weeks, our school will welcome the Kids ROAR program — a fun and important way for children to learn about personal safety. The lessons will help students understand that their bodies belong to them, and they have the right to feel safe and respected.

ROAR stands for:
R – Report to a trusted adult who can help
During the student sessions, students will listen to stories, watch videos, and practise what to do if they ever feel unsafe. The lessons are taught in a kind and caring way, helping children feel brave, not scared.
Teachers will engage in a professional learning session next week in preparation for the learning in the classroom with the Kids Roar educators.
Parents are invited to attend an online zoom session on the 11th November from 7:30-8:30pm to learn about the program and ask any clarifying questions you may have. An email will be sent out prior to the zoom meeting with the link included. Each student will also receive take-home materials so families can talk about safety together.
Our goal is to help every child understand that they have the right to be safe and that it’s always okay to talk to an adult they trust if something worries them.
Together, as a school and family community, we can help our children ROAR with confidence and safety!
Have a lovely long weekend and keep safe.

We’re excited to invite parents and carers to our next Coffee and Connect morning — a relaxed and welcoming space to enjoy a cuppa, chat, and connect with others in our school community. These gatherings are all about sharing experiences, offering support, and taking a moment to pause together.

At our upcoming session, one of our staff members will be joining us to share her journey of raising a child with additional needs. She will speak openly about the challenges, the learning, and the moments of joy that have shaped her family’s story. Her experience offers a powerful reminder of resilience, hope, and the importance of community support.
This will be a wonderful opportunity to listen, reflect, and connect with other parents who understand the many ups and downs of family life. Whether you’re new to the school or a familiar face, all parents and carers are warmly welcome.

🗓 Date: 13th November
🕘 Time: 8:45-10:00am
📍 Location: Staff Lounge, St Thomas the Apostle PS.
Come for the coffee, stay for the connection — and leave feeling inspired and supported.
Kindest regards,
Jen Gulavin
