Dear Families,

On Friday the 24th October, Alabeka went to the regional sports to participate in the 100m sprint and the hurdles events. We congratulate Alabeka on her amazing performance as she won both her races, spectacularly in the hurdles as she broke the previous record in her age group (from 2023) in around 12 seconds. Next Thursday she is going to try out for the state team at Lakeside Stadium in Albert Park, competing against all the regional winners in her age group. We wish her every success and look forward to hearing how she goes.
This week the Year 6 Art Leadership group of Sana, Zayna, Leo and Akain, offered a lunchtime art club to the Year 4 community. Many year 4's were very keen to attend.

Congratulations to our Learners of the week: Jayden, Zayna, Daisy and Sinithi.

We hope everyone has a wonderful long weekend, remembering their is no school on Monday or Tuesday, followed by a three day learning weekend. A timely mid term break, before the students have Interschool Sports next Friday at St Peters.
OUR LEARNING:
Religious Education:

This week students completed their letter before they join forces with other students to begin brainstorming various actions they can undertake to support their charitable project. They will begin putting into action their ideas next week.
English:

This week, the students explored the vocabulary of 'Can You See Me?"and use their research of Therapy Animals to write persuasive letters independently. Next week is a very short week with only 2 days in the classroom, so we will continue to read our class text, while analysing the vocabulary and the actions of our main character Tally as she negotiates her first year at high school.
Mathematics:
Students are studying Fractions, Decimals and Percentages. This week, the students used 'The World Estimation' resources to reason and find smart estimates using the Fraction, Decimal and Percentage skills they have learnt, before finishing the unit at the end of the week. Next week students will begin undertaking assessment to enable teachers to report on your students progress for the end of this year.
Integrated Studies:
This term's topic is 'Taking Charge of my health'. This week students focused on the importance of Sleep and how it helps our body, our mood and our brain. Next week students will investigate the benefits of regular physical activity and how to integrate it into their daily life.
