My Lord and My God

Farewell to Father Denis

Dear Fanilies,

It is with full hearts that we share the news that Father Denis, our inspirational and much-loved founding Parish Priest, will be moving on to a new chapter within the Diocese after an amazing tenure here in Clyde.

From the very beginning, Father Denis has been a guiding light for our parish and school community. His faith, warmth, and tireless dedication have shaped so much of who we are today. Under his leadership, we have seen our parish and school flourish, from the building of new learning spaces to the nurturing of a vibrant, faith-filled community where everyone feels welcome.

We are so deeply grateful for his vision, his wisdom, and his genuine care for every child, family, and staff member. His legacy will remain a cherished part of St Thomas the Apostle.

In the coming weeks, we will take time to reflect on the best way to celebrate and formally thank Father Denis for all he has given to our community.

Enjoy the long weekend and we will see you back onsite on Wednesday 5th November.

Warm Regards

Celebrating All Who Teach — World Educators’ Day 2025 💛

Each year, World Educators’ Day reminds us to celebrate the incredible people who shape the minds and hearts of our young learners — our teacherseducation support officers (ESOs), and our parents and carers, who are children’s very first educators.

Education begins long before the classroom — in the everyday moments at home, where curiosity, courage and confidence first develop. Parents lay the foundations for lifelong learning by encouraging questions, reading together, and modelling kindness, safety and respect. This partnership between home and school is what helps every child reach their full potential.

Teachers: Inspiring Growth and Opportunity

Our teachers bring learning to life every day. They nurture creativity, spark curiosity, and help students see the world through new eyes. Their dedication, adaptability, and compassion create safe, supportive spaces where children can learn, grow, and believe in themselves.

Education Support Officers: The Quiet Champions

Our education support officers play a vital, though often unseen, role in our school community. Whether assisting students who require additional support, encouraging classroom learning, or ensuring our school runs smoothly, their care and expertise make a world of difference. Their work ensures that every child is included, supported, and valued.

Parents and Carers: The First Educators

From the very first day, parents and carers guide children in learning about the world — teaching values, resilience, and curiosity. The partnership between families and schools is at the heart of every child’s success. When we work together, learning becomes a shared journey that empowers students both inside and outside the classroom.

 A Heartfelt Thank You

This World Educators’ Day, we want to extend our deepest gratitude to everyone who teaches, supports, and cares for our students. To our teachers and ESOs — thank you for your dedication, creativity, and care. And to our parents and carers — thank you for the love and learning you nurture every day at home.

Together, We Make Learning Extraordinary

Education is truly a team effort. By celebrating all educators — in classrooms, support roles, and homes — we honour the shared commitment that helps every child thrive.

Happy World Educators’ Day 2025 to our amazing St Thomas the Apostle primary school community!

Kindest regards,

Jen Gulavin
