Book Club

Book Club is a great fundraiser for our Library and we appreciate your support.

There are no paper forms going out to students this term. Issue 7 is open online for parents to order Scholastic books online. This will be closed on Monday 10 November. If you buy online for Issue 7 past that date, you will be charged for the postage.

Issue 8, usually the Christmas issue, will be opened later in the month of November.

If you wish us to hold books back for you for Christmas gift purposes, please send us an email.

There are two options for ordering.

  1. Use your own Scholastic account to order and pay online. (Loop) If you would like to set up a new account go to:

http://scholastic.com.au/register

  1. Please enclose the correct cash with your completed order form as we do not have cash for change kept in the library. Your completed forms can be handed in to the library.

Thank you in advance for supporting our library and your child’s reading journey.

Yours in reading

Fire Twirling & Dance Workshop Invitation

All current students in Years Seven to Eleven are invited! If you have ever wanted to learn how to dance with fire, this is the opportunity you have been waiting for.

Join Kaarla Wirren, Concept Creator, Aunty Carol Petterson and Mrs Rachael Colmer as they guide you through storytelling that translates into fire twirling, contemporary dance and music.

Students are warmly welcomed to be part of how this story is shared with the wider community.

The first meeting and workshop will be held on Wednesday 4 November, from 3.20pm 4.30pm. Workshops will continue every Wednesday after school for the remainder of Term Four.

Light afternoon tea will be provided, but please bring along some extra snacks.

More information is available from Ms Madi van der List and Mr Lewis Ward.

Students in Year Six who will be joining GSG in Year Seven next year are also welcome to participate in this term’s workshops.

Students that are already committed to the Possum Play, please continue with that commitment and you will have the opportunity to be involved in Kaarla Wirren in Term One.

Possum Place

We are busy in rehearsals preparing for our puppet play, Possum Place, including recording the sounds of local frogs, many thanks, Dr Giles Watson! Our lead artist, Chloe Flockart is back with us for the final three weeks to help us add some magic to the performance.

All the primary classes and the assembly had a surprise visit this week from a western ground parrot, reminding everyone to get their tickets. The parrot is only found between Albany and Esperance and there are only 150 left; it is a highly threatened species. The western ringtail possum is listed as critically endangered.

Tickets for the play are available via this link (only $12 each!)

It promises to be a beautiful show.
