Student Learning
Whilst only being a short week it has been wonderful to have been able to visit classrooms, including specialist classes, to observe some of the exciting teaching and learning take place. In particular I saw some very creative towers being built by the students from 1/2B in STEM as well as the 3/4 students learning to program the Dash robots using the Blockly app on the iPads. They certainly had a better understanding of the process and functions than I did, making the Dash robots talk and move around the room following voice typed and voice commands.
I also had the opportunity to visit 1/2C during some of their writing lessons and the students were able to proudly share their narrative writing. There were many different problems being encountered in these stories, including cats being stuck in trees, lost drones getting bird poo on them, lost toys and pets and teddies getting stuck in the door. I look forward to following up in this class to see how these problems all get resolved.
Bike Helmets
It has been extremely pleasing to see that many more of the students who are riding either a scooter or bike to school are wearing a suitable helmet. This number has increased over recent weeks and we thank the students and families for demonstrating our value of Responsibility to ensure students are travelling to and from school safely.
Playground Update
The new line marking and play areas on the asphalt area have been very well used since being completed last Thursday. The area is certainly much brighter now and encourages the students to participate actively in a range of games and exercise circuits. I am sure as we move into warmer weather they will be used frequently.
Attendance
As we enter the second half of Term 4 next week teachers are conducting a range of assessments in preparation for Semester 2 student reports. It is important that students are continuing to attend school regularly so they can demonstrate their learning achievements and growth. Obviously if students are unwell they should not attend school, however otherwise they should be at school ready to learn from 9:00am to ensure they are not missing out on the beginning instructions and mini lessons.
2026 Prep Transition
Our Wednesday morning transition sessions have been very well attended, with the majority of enrolled 2026 Prep students participating regularly. The children are already becoming familiar with many of the routines they will encounter next year and have been having a lot of fun during the two hour sessions. These sessions will continue to occur each Wednesday this term.
Have a wonderful and relaxing weekend.
