Basketball

Another week, another title for our talented young basketball players. Both our boys and girls teams qualified for the greater western basketball tournament last week. Our boys did a great job winning some of their pool games but it was our girls that shone brightest and went through the whole competition undefeated. They will now head to Melbourne in a few weeks time to battle it out for state champions! Good luck girls.

Golf

Last Thursday, we sent a group of 20 students to the Colac golf club for the divisional golf championship. We had some fantastic results with Claudia Simmonds finishing second overall in the girls and Harper Neal Rix winning the boys competition. Pretty impressive for a student in grade 3 against the grade 6’s. The two will head to curlewis in a few weeks time for the next stage. Good luck!

School Sport Victoria

Team Vic Registration Process

Year 6 Students

Dear Parents,

Each year, talented Year 6 students have the opportunity to trial for a place in the School Sport Victoria (SSV) ‘Team Vic’ state teams. The sports include Australian Rules Football, Basketball, Football (Soccer) and Netball. It is VERY important to remember that these trials form part of School Sport Victoria’s Gifted and Talented program and are not ‘come and try’ opportunities. Each child is trialing for a state team and as such we must attest to each child’s athleticism, skill level and school behaviour.

If you feel that your child has the skill level that is required, you can view further trial information regarding the nomination process for each sport - by clicking on the respective links under the Team Vic tab. Website - www.ssv.vic.edu.au

Please note that participation in SSV Team Vic state teams is self-funded, so students will be required to contribute to the costs of being a member of a team. As a guide, it may cost approximately between $1,500- $2,500.

Students must fully register online before attending trials and hand into the relevant SSV Team Vic Team Manager the signed form. All forms need to be signed by Parent/Guardian, School Principal and Sports coordinator. Please note the form is received on completing the registration fully.

To be eligible for selection students must be turning 12 years of age in 2024. Students are expected to have ‘excellent’ skills in their chosen sport. Registration for certain sports close as early as the Second of February 2024 so make sure to register before cut off dates..
