YEAR 12 WORK PLACEMENT

Where our Year 12s went for Work Placement;

TW Pearson and Son, Myalup - Andrew Schumacher

Vineyard 28, Myalup - Caitlin Shales

Helifite, Jandakot - Mitchell Snell

  1. What are your main tasks? Getting the hanger ready before and after work.  Service and general 100 hours and overhaul maintenance, 6-year inspection on Eurocopter, test flight and ground runs.
  2. What hours do you work? 7.30am – 4.00pm
  3. How many people do you work with?  6
  4. What is the best part of the work that you are doing? Working on something that is enjoyable.  It is very rewarding when you have done the work and all the test flights are good and you know you have done your job well.
  5. What is your least favourite task and why? Lock wiring is a safety reassurance on a helicopter where all the bolts are tightened on the machine.  It is very fiddly and frustrating, but I don’t have a least favourite.
  6. Do you think that being at the Ag school has helped with the work that you are doing?  Yes I do, the work is very similar to what I do in trades.
  7. Why (what skills that you have learned have helped you – welding, auto, farm etc)?  Auto has helped the most because it involves motors similar to helicopters.
