Colour Run
What an incredible afternoon we had on Friday! The weather turned it on for us, with a mix of colour and water flying in the air. The smiles on everyone’s faces told the story of an incredibly enjoyable community event. A special mention to Bethany, who received the gold cape for raising the most money in the whole school - an amazing effort!
Well done to Mr Rodgers and his team of organisers. It was certainly an event to remember!
Scotsburn Assembly this Friday
A reminder that this Friday we will have our next Scotsburn assembly, 9:10am in the shed. We would love to see you there!
The Flags and Flying!
It is great to see our new flags flying at the front of the campus. We have students from all three classes working as flag monitors, who raise and lower the flags each day as well as fold them up and take care of them. They look great in the sun!
Family Groups - Team Building
Over the last few weeks in the team building group, students have been working in teams to complete a bridge building challenge. This activity has a big focus on teamwork, communication and problem solving. It has been incredible to see students collaborate with their peers to overcome the challenges of this task. Well done!
SC3 Elective Program starting this Thursday afternoon at Buninyong
Beginning this Thursday, SC3 will be joining all of the Buninyong Grade 5/6 students for weekly elective activities from 2pm - 3:30pm. These activities will all be taking place at the Buninyong campus, and will continue for the rest of the term.
Each week, students will be able to sign up to an activity, ranging from sport, to art and craft, and even some mindfulness. For Maggie, Ava and Bethany, this will be the time that they work on their Energy Breakthrough tasks with the EB students at Buninyong.
SC3 students will be transported via bus down to Buninyong each Thursday at lunchtime, with pick up arrangements to be at the Buninyong campus at 3:30pm each week.
There will be a reminder message sent out on Wednesday via Compass to SC3 families. Any questions, please see Jarrod.

SC1 Learning Snapshot
What an absolute blast Friday afternoon was for our School Colour Run! Students is SC1 were just fantastic. It was great to see everyone participating and helping each other out, especially when some of our students were feeling a little worried about how the event was going to run. Well done to everyone involved.
This week in the classroom students have been participating in Shoe Maths. Not only do students have very smelly feet (joking) but they also have a great understanding of measurement. This activity incorporated, finding the length, perimeter, and area of our shoe. Students used a number of different material to measure and enjoyed discussing their findings.
We also have a great display in the classroom which we encourage everyone to come and have a look at.
Students loved the U R Strong workshop that was held last week. We had the opportunity to become a ‘ friendship ninja’ and work on friendship-building skills to help create a whole school campus approach to being kind. It was fabulous to see all our students using the phrases taught in the workshop.
Have a fantastic week.
Ana and Kirsty.
SC2 Learning Snapshot
It was a busy and tiring week for SC2 as they embarked on their first exploration of the Union Jack walk. Students were able to navigate their way through the reserve, drawing maps and illustrating any findings along the way. During this time, our students behaved beautifully and were reminded that the past 4 times we have mingled with the Buninyong campus (camp, Japanese Day, P-2 sports and UJ walk), we have upheld our values wonderfully. This continued as we headed to the main campus for the colour run!
On Friday morning, the sun was out and the worksheets were put away! It was lovely to get outside and complete our spelling word-sorts outside using chalk, as well as creating our own town for mapping, using grid references, key’s and more!
Just a reminder that we will be partaking in the Union Jack walk once again on Wednesday, therefore we will be starting the day at Buninyong again and pickup will be at the Scotsburn campus.
Have a great weekend everyone!
Mitch.
SC3 Learning Snapshot
Last Monday, our students embarked on the URstrong session that associated our students with many strategies for how to be good friends.
Here are some recaps from SC3:
Asher - “What we learnt is how to help a fight or disagreement with a friend by not making it a bigger fire than what it may already be”
Kyson - “I learnt that if your friend does something to hurt your feelings, that is called a friendship fire and it is important to talk to them about it and explain how it made you feel. If they are still angry, you say that you will come back later when they are ready to talk”.
On Friday, we took part in the colour run! Here is Beth with how it went:
Beth - “On Friday afternoon, we started off by sliming Mr. Rodgers because we raised a whole $34,000! After this, we started the run which went for over 30 minutes. There were many different parts to the run, there were the CFA spraying us with water, the teachers with water guns and different stations that sprayed us with different colours. It was really fun!”
In Maths this week, students in SC3 are continuing to work on Multiplication strategies on Monday and Tuesday, and Location and Transformation on Wednesday to Friday. The class is taking on Mr and Mrs Morgan in a whole class game of Battleships!
Thanks everyone, have an amazing week!
Jarrod.
Scotsburn Intercampus Travel At times, Scotsburn students will be transported between campuses in order to attend classes, assemblies, special days and events. On most occasions, transport required through the day will be by bus and occasionally private car for smaller groups of students. Parents may be asked to drop off or collect from the Buninyong campus if sessions are at the beginning or ending of a day. We will always let you know of any upcoming travel arrangements via our newsletter, Compass, or via phone for smaller, more specific travel arrangements. If you ever have any questions or concerns regarding intercampus travel, please contact your child’s teacher. |
