Learning Community 2

Maxine Howard and John Wigg

What a busy two weeks it has been!

Our Year 3/4 students attended camp at Forest Edge CYC in Neerim East on Wednesday. While there, some of the activities they participated in included: bushwalking, bush cooking, riding a flying fox and climbing a rock climbing wall. In addition, students stayed in cabins along the McKerlie Creek. It is fair to say that they enjoyed the experience while gaining confidence to try some new experiences.

A huge thank you to Ms Dowsett, Leanne and Sherrall for joining us - it is much appreciated!

Back at school, students have been exploring Fractions. In this unit, students have explored how to divide a shape into equal parts. In addition, they have also learnt how to count and continue number patterns involving fractions.

In Reading students have explored the features of a biography, their purpose and also target audience. They have consolidated their knowledge of how to skim and scan the text to locate important information within what they are reading.

In our writing unit, students have explored the concept of diary writing. Students have focused on the purpose of diary writing, the language used in these and how to sequence events while adding detail to meet their target audience.
