Off to Regionals for Year 6 movie producers!

Big congratulations to five of our Year 6 students who have been shortlisted as State Finalists in the Victorian section of the International Youth Silent Film Festival.

The silent movie, produced by Nick T, Aarit, Anton, Henry and James W, is called "The Janitor's Revenge" and will be screened at the Red Carpet Awards Night at the Astor Theatre on Wednesday 22 November.

Their movie was created as part of a unit on Silent Movies undertaken by the Year 5 and 6 students in Performing Arts. The students worked in small groups to produce their own silent film in accordance with the specific features of this interesting genre of film-making.

The students then shared their films with each other in our mini festival, with three of our highest scoring films being submitted to the International Youth Silent Film Festival. This competition is an annual event and attracts entries from students aged up to 22 years from all around the world.

As one of the finalists, their film will be in the running to win a prize for their age group (14 years and under). (There will also be an award for Best Picture in the 15 - 18 years age group and 19-22 years.)

All three winners will go through to compete at the Global Awards in Portland, Oregon in 2024.

It is such a fabulous achievement for the boys to be nominated as State Finalists, and we are so proud that they have come this far! We look forward to celebrating with them at the awards night!
