Principal's Report

Dear Parents,

I know that there are many of you that are taking advantage of our extended weekend with some families even heading off on adventures around Australia this weekend. For other families, it is business as usual apart from Tuesday's public holiday. We hope that you have a safe weekend whatever you are doing, and we will see everyone back at school on Wednesday. Due to the short week, there won't be a newsletter next Thursday.

Bayside Catholic Mission

Most of you would be aware by now that a restructuring of the Bayside Catholic Mission has been imminent.  Last week Archbishop Peter Comensoli made his decisions public with ten Bayside parishes now becoming four larger parishes.   St Finbar's will become  part of the North Parish, along with St Joan of Arc and St James, Brighton with our very own Father Ian Ranson taking on responsibility for all three communities.  This offers us opportunities to work more closely with our two neighbouring schools,  with the Religious Education Leaders in each school likely to collaborate more.

You can click on the link below to read the full letter from Archbishop Comensoli.

Staff Congratulations

Congratulations to Miss Laura Zeeng and Miss Nonie Kay who both completed study this week. Laura has finished her Masters of Education (Student Wellbeing). Nonie completed a double degree Masters of Education (Student Wellbeing and Leadership & Management). Both are members of our leadership team and it is a testament to their dedication that they were able to do this while working full time.

Well done too to Miss Bianca Antonio who has fulfilled all the requirements for full registration with the Victorian Institute of Teaching - VIT.   This was a rigorous process culminating with a Bianca presenting her work to a panel this week. For those of you know Bianca, it will come as no surprise that her work and subsequent presentation was done to an exceptionally high standard. She is definitely an asset to St Finbar's.

AMC Results

The Australian Maths Competition results are in and once again St Finbar's performed well. A particular mention needs to be made of Hunter in Year 5 who received the highest results in our school and earned the 'Best in School' award. More recognition of our amazing mathematicians can be found on Mrs Fraser's Maths Page news in this newsletter.

Pat's farewell

We had a wonderful afternoon celebrating Pat today, and the legacy that he is leaving St Finbar's.  Take a look at the slideshow below with just a few highlights of Pat's time at St Finbar's.

God bless,
