Year 3 News

 Prototypes

On Tuesday 31st October the Year 3’s we were told that we will be working on an invention to help an endangered animal that we did a project on in Term 3. We got into partners and decided which animal to do, our partners animal or the animal that we researched ourselves. Then after we picked an animal we generated ideas for an invention to help the animal.

Soon after that we had to plan and manage our design. We had to draw/write a rough copy of what we were going to be making with our partner. Our invention had to raise awareness or be an actual product like a camera to monitor the animal, or something to help the animal from being hunted or killed by predators. We had to make a prototype, not the actual thing.

Now, it was time to produce our design, everyone brought materials from home or used the materials produced by our teachers. We started to create our designs. It took 2-3 days to finish our designs. Some kids made bracelets, board games, sculptures and badges where others made cameras and tracking devices.

Then we went onto the communication part. We made posters of our prototype and decorated them SO MUCH! Some kids printed out their poster off word and others just

did it by hand. Some posters were RAINBOW and some were just ONE COLOUR! Our process ends here but we still need to present our design to the class.

This project was really fun and we thank the teachers for organising this for us!!

School Colour Run Fun!!!

On the first of November BNPS had a school colour run.

Before the colour run the students got their own head band and sun glasses. When we got out of the classroom we saw colour bottles, slime, inflatables and water squirters.

The first obstacle was a big inflatable monster that you had to run under. Then you had to run under colourful flags. After that, parents had bottles of coloured powder that you ran through and got squirted with. Then we got squirted with cold slime. After that we ran under another inflatable monster, then the slime pool and lastly we ran through noodles and under a rainbow.

By the end we were so colourful!!

Then it was time to slime the teachers. Students went into a raffle to slime them.  Freya and Hugo from our class were selected.

There was so many teachers getting slimed it was so fun to watch.  We had the best day.

School Colour Run

On the 1st of November our school did a colour run. After lunch we got ready for the colour run, we put on some sunglasses and a headband on. (the headband was really warm).

The year 6 captains ran the course first and after that the preps ran. The preps ran faster than I expected! A couple minutes later the year 1’s ran, they ran under Monty and under the flags then into the wet, heavy and gooey slime, then everyone was complaining about how cold the slime was. All the year levels ran the same course, it was so fun I wish we could do a colour run every day.

Lastly it was time to dump some slime on the teachers! Tom from 3A dumped Mrs Duffy, Freya from 3B dumped Mr Farmer and Hugo from 3B dumped Mrs Hall.

 Year 6 Mini Market

On Thursday the 2nd of November, the year 6 students made some goodies that we could order a week before on Qkr. This allowed them time to make as many as they needed. You could order as many things as you wanted. The food was all mini because it’s a mini market.

There were mini pizzas, rocky roads, spiders, sausage in bread, cake pops, mini lolly bags, ice cream sandwiches and much more.

After we got all our food we sat down under Sherril’s shed to eat our yummy treats.

We had to bring our lunch box or a big container to carry our yummy treats instead of holding them in our hands.

The teacher gave us a sticker that goes on our shirt so the year 6’s new what we had ordered.

The year 6 mini market started at 12.00 so some people still brought lunch to eat so that they were not hungry or starving to death.

Year 6 Mini Market

On 2nd of November, it was the year 6 Mini Market. Two nights before the market, it was the cut off to order your food. When the day was here at 12:00 we went down to the year 6 learning centre where they had all of their stalls set up.

We needed to bring a big lunch box/container and the stalls where nachos, sausages, ice cream sandwich, ice cream, cake pops, mini pizza, frog in a pond, mars bar car, fruit skewers, spiders, drinks, honey joys, brownies, party bags and rocky roads. So, we were all given stickers that said what we had ordered.

For example, if I ordered some nachos and a brownie I would go to the nachos and brownies stall and they would have a long list with names and they would cross or tick my name off and they would give me what I ordered. After we got our things we sat under the shed to eat our lunch and then went back to our classroom.

We had the best time and the food was delicious.
