Opus 4

We are excited to showcase our Primary students at the Opus 4 concert tonight at Clayfield College.

Detailed information is now available on Parent Lounge, and in the College App under each relevant music ensemble.

The groups performing include Beginner Band, Campo delle Voci, Corelli Strings, Dance Troupe, Irish Dancers, Junior String Ensemble, Piccolo Choir, Wind Orchestra, and Vivo Strings.

Students are to arrive at the tuckshop courtyard at 5:15pm, where they will be directed to warm-up rooms.

Drama

Year 6 Drama students performed scenes inspired by Roald Dahl’s, ‘The Witches’, to our younger grades as part of our Book Week Celebration. Students focused on creating character through voice and movement, and reacting ‘in the moment’, to engage their audiences.

As part of Queensland’s Theatre, The Scene Project, our Year 9 students performed ‘Flowers in Antarctica’, by Wendy Mocke. Our students used visual theatre, stylised movement and scene work to present a powerful drama based on climate change, indigenous connections and family values.

We are grateful to be part of The Scene Project, which embraces collaboration, acknowledging students and teachers as artists, building confidence, and encouraging live performance in a professional space and manner.

Dance

We are looking forward to our performances at Opus 4. We will be presenting a vibrant Irish dance performance by our very own Shuffling Shamrocks, a group made up of our talented primary students. This performance is directed by Mr Adrian Walker, who has previously toured with Michael Flatley’s Lord of the Dance.

Adding to the magic of the show, our dancers will be led on the fiddle by the wonderful Ms Karen Gordon. Our dance troupe, ‘Bailar’, will present an electrifying performance of "Let’s Get Loud", featuring our talented Year 5 to 7 students. Choreographed by Jess French of Kick Dance and directed by Mr Adrian Walker. The high-energy routine will be sure to get you moving.

Musical Showcase

Our Year 9 music students showcased their talent at the musical theatre showcase evening. They performed excerpts from popular musicals including Wicked, High School Musical, The Greatest Showman, Tangled, and Mamma Mia. Congratulations to all of our students who performed!

Festival of Fathers

We were proud to feature both Primary and Secondary musicians at the Festival of Fathers on Wednesday. The Junior String Ensemble were first to perform with two short classical pieces, and the Faure Flutes performed a medley from The Sound of Music. We were thrilled to have vocal solos performed both musically and professionally by Year 11 students Kelsi Darben and Georgia Johnston. Well done to all of our musicians for your great performances!

Masquerade Secondary Music Dinner

Tickets are now available for the Secondary Music Dinner. The event will be held on Friday 11 October at Virginia Golf Club. It will be an exciting evening to celebrate our talented musicians. Don’t miss out on this wonderful opportunity to enjoy an evening of music, entertainment and food!

We look forward to seeing many of our Secondary musicians at this exciting event!
