Father's Day Celebrations

It was wonderful to see so many students and their fathers join us for breakfast on Wednesday. We wish all our fathers a Happy Father’s Day for Sunday.

“Any man can be a father, but it takes someone special to be a dad.”

Anne Geddes

A big thank you to Owen Barbeler, who was instrumental in organising the lovely Father’s Day Stall this week.

Thank you also to all the volunteers who assisted the students in the shopping process.

No Hat No Play

Clayfield College follows the Queensland Sun Safe Guidelines for all students. We have a strict No Hat No Play policy. Students who don’t have their play hats are asked to stay in the shade or go to the LRC during playtime.

The classroom teacher will be checking hats for names and reminding students to bring them to school. It is important that all students have their playtime, and as such, we ask for your help in making sure they have a named hat at school every day.

During Assembly, we will be acknowledging those classes who consistently bring their hat to school.

Lost Property

There are several unnamed items which have not been claimed, including dark blue fleece jumpers and green Clayfield College sweaters, which you may not have noticed are missing, since the weather has warmed up. On Thursday 5 September, and Friday 6 September, a table will be set up outside the Primary Admin Officefrom 8:00am to 8:30am and 2:30pm to 3:30pm for these items to be claimed. All unclaimed items will be donated at the end of Term 3.

Reminder: Please clearly name all items (full name or name and surname initial is helpful) so that lost items can be returned to their owners promptly. Thank you in advance for your assistance in this.

Larrikin Books Book Fair

We are hosting a Book Fair with Larrikin House from 3 September to 5 September. Classes will attend the fair during their library session and will have the opportunity to make a ‘wish list’; younger students will receive help with this. The wish lists will then be sent home so you can review them.

You will be able to review your child’s choices and pre-order online using click & collect at https://larrikinhouse.com.au/collections/book-fair-range

You will also have the option to purchase items at the Book Fair in person with credit card payments, before school at 7:30am to 8:00am or after school at 3:15pm to 4:15pm on Thursday 5 September

If you would like to donate a new book to our school library, please choose from the ‘Teacher’s Choice’ section at the Book Fair.

RUOK? Day

Clayfield College will celebrate RUOK? Day on 11 September 2024 this year. It’s a day dedicated to highlighting the importance of meaningful conversations, building friendships, and sharing daily challenges with trusted friends. Let’s come together to support and uplift each other.

All students are encouraged to wear a yellow accessory with their school uniform (either sport or formal, depending on their timetable) in support of RUOK? Day.

Last Day of Term 3

The Big Chop

On Friday 4 October, Meghan Guthrie-Quinn and Tia Tyler (Year 11 students) will be running the Clayfield Big Chop! The Kids Cancer Project’s Lose Your Locks Campaign encourages people to sponsor others to cut their hair. By taking part in the Big Chop, or sponsoring others, you will be helping researchers develop kids' cancer treatments, give kids their childhoods back or allow their confidence to be restored with a life changing wig. The minimum donation of hair is 20cm. If your child is interested in having their hair cut by our on-site hairdresser, please fill out the survey form attached.

If you would rather keep your locks, we would love for you, your family and friends to donate to our Clayfield Big Chop Campaign Page, all of the funds go towards the Kids' Cancer Project. Thank you for your support!
