Principal's Message

Concerts don’t just happen without a huge amount of preparation and hard work. In particular I would like to thank Liana Calder and Sharni Oliver who did a massive amount of pre work. Many of the hours devoted to our concert was done in their own personal time- a huge thank you both for all your dedication and high organisational skills.
Other people I would like to acknowledge are Ben Krahe (the teachers dance instructor)- dealing with a group of children is draining at times but dealing with a large group of teaching staff is a nightmare! - Many thanks Ben for all your patience- especially with me!
The office staff were also amazing. They went well beyond their specific duties to ensure the success of the concert- Many thanks to each of you.
On Monday 26th August we held a parent information session on supporting children and parents in the world of the internet. The speaker was from Batforce(Barwon Adolescent Task Force). It was an extremely insightful and parent friendly session. We hope to run a similar session again in after school hours, so it is available to all parents.
We are establishing a dress up club during lunch hours for students. We have purchased some outfits, but the demand to attend the session greatly exceeds our expectations. If any parent has finished with costumes or their child has grown out of the size purchased, we would be grateful if you were able to donate them to our club.
If you need to collect your child during the day, please call or send a note to the office on the day stating the time you wish to collect your child. At 9.00am each day we collate a list of students needing to be collected and send this list to the grade teacher. This helps to prevent interruptions over the phone or microphone which can interrupt the learning time in the classrooms.
Just a reminder that broad brimmed navy hats are compulsory in Term 4. If you have packed them away after Term 1 please see if you can locate them in the September school holidays. Hats with the school logo can be purchased at the office for $14. Please ensure all hats are clearly labelled.
At Rollins, we work thoughtfully to build future class groupings. Teachers work together (literally for hours) forming classes for the coming year. They consider student learning styles, behaviour needs, student personalities, gender (even numbers of boys and girls) and many other factors to create classrooms where students will work well together and with their teacher. It is a complex process. Our goal is always to create the most balanced classes possible.
Parents are invited to advise us of any considerations that they would like us to take into account for student placement in 2025. If you would like to take this opportunity, I ask that you provide your thoughts in writing to me, no later than Friday18th October 2024. Unfortunately, we are unable to consider requests after this date. Please note we cannot meet requests for specific teachers and, although we try our best to meet all requests, we cannot give guarantees.
As always, please feel free to reach out to me if you have any questions or concerns.
have a great weekend
Jenny
